From January to July, our community showed up; for themselves, for one another, and for the difficult work of navigating life after loss.

Behind every number is a person who reached out, joined a conversation, shared their story, or simply needed somewhere to be.

Between January and July, we:
-Held 133 group sessions
-Welcomed 748 visits to our grief support groups
-Welcomed 261 people who reached out to us for the first time
-Provided 653 one-to-one peer support sessions

We know that grief doesn't follow a timeline, and neither does the need for support. Every session represents a moment of connection: a place to be heard, a reminder that you don't have to navigate grief completely alone, and an opportunity to find community with others who understand.

We're committed to keeping this support free and accessible to those who need it.

Consider supporting our Walk to Remember fundraising event: Start or join a team, participate with us, or make a donation to help us continue providing free grief support to our community.

Every contribution helps us keep these spaces open for the people who need them. Click the link in our Instagram bio or visit us at www.bereavedfamilies.ca/walktoremember2026 to invest in grief support, today.

“I joined Walk to Remember because I wanted to be in community and remind myself that I’m not alone in my grief.”

For many of us, grief can feel isolating. Walk to Remember creates space to connect with others who understand, honour the people we’ve lost, and find meaningful ways to carry their memories with us.

This September 19, we invite you to join us at Lakeside Park in Mississauga for a morning of remembrance, connection, wellness, and community.

💜 Honour their memory. Support someone in your community grieving.

You can also choose to fundraise in honour of someone you’ve lost. Every dollar raised brings us closer to our $40,000 goal and helps us continue providing free grief support in our community.

Whether you join us, fundraise, or make a donation, your support helps create more spaces where people can grieve together, feel less alone, and find connection.

Your grief is shaped by more than your loss. It’s shaped by who you are, where you come from, and the experiences you carry.

For many Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC), grief can intersect with culture, identity, family, community, migration, racism, and other experiences that can make loss feel even more complicated. Sometimes, finding a space where you feel truly understood can be difficult.

Our 8-Week BIPOC Grief Support Group offers an opportunity to come together with others who understand that grief doesn’t look the same for everyone.

Together, we’ll create space to talk about loss, identity, culture, and the many ways grief can show up, while connecting with others who may share similar experiences.

🤎 A space where you can be yourself
🤎 A space where your culture and identity are respected
🤎 A space to share, listen, connect, and feel less alone
🤎 A space where your grief is seen, heard, and honoured

📅 Thursdays, September 24 – November 12
🕡 6:30–8:00 PM
💻 Via Zoom
📍 For BIPOC individuals living in Halton
💛 Free of charge

Thanks to the support from the Halton Region Community Investment Fund, we’re able to offer this free program to individuals who identify as BIPOC and reside in Halton.

You don’t have to navigate your grief alone. There is space for you here.
