Have you met Stalen, one of our incredible Ostomy Ambassadors?

Stalen's story is one of extraordinary courage, resilience, and hope.

Living with autism and significant health challenges, Stalen underwent life-saving ileostomy surgery that transformed his quality of life. Today, he embraces every moment with joy, from cheering on his favourite hockey team to spreading awareness about autism and ostomies with his incredible positivity.

His journey reminds us that an ostomy doesn't define a person and that it can open doors to a healthier, fuller life. Through Stalen's Way, he is inspiring others, breaking down stigma, and showing what is possible with determination, support, and courage.

We are honoured to have Stalen as an Ostomy Ambassador and to celebrate the difference he is making in our community.

Every day, your generosity and support help people living with an ostomy, along with their caregivers, families, and friends, navigate their ostomy journeys with hope.

Approximately 165,000 Canadians are currently living with an ostomy, and about 13,000 Canadians undergo ostomy surgery each year. For more than 60 years, Ostomy Canada Society has provided support, advocacy, education, and resources to people living with an ostomy and those who support them across the country.

When you make a one-time gift or become a monthly donor, you help ensure that no one has to face their ostomy journey alone.

Together, we can continue to build a stronger, more connected ostomy community across Canada.

Did you know this about ostomies?

The ostomy bag is a means to collect and store waste— much like a specialized organ. The ostomy pouching system therefore fits the medical definition of a prosthetic device!
