Today, Alfreda is thriving at CIBC and continues to give back by supporting Achēv’s Women’s Empowerment initiatives and mentoring young women.

A story of growth, leadership, and paying it forward.

Canada’s workforce is evolving, and so are the stories we tell about talent.

Through the 2026 campaign, we’re highlighting leaders whose experiences exemplify the value refugees bring to our workplaces, economy, and communities.

From business and communications to technology and social impact, these leaders show what’s possible when opportunity meets resilience.

Follow along this campaign from Welcoming Economy over the coming weeks as we share their stories—and how employers can benefit by hiring refugees.
