Armagh Transition House

Armagh Transition House Armagh is a transitional supportive housing program that offers secure and affordable housing to women, with or without children fleeing violence.

03/10/2026

On Thursday, March 5, Armagh had the privilege of joining the Brampton community at the InspiHer Gala to celebrate women in the days leading up to International Women’s Day.

This year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” came to life through a room filled with passionate leaders and changemakers who believe in the power of lifting women up. Together, we raised over $13,000 to support women at Armagh as they rebuild their lives with safety, dignity, and hope.

Because of this generosity, women at Armagh will gain access to essential supports — a comfortable bed to rest in, a laptop to pursue education or employment, and programs and counselling to help heal and move forward.

When a community comes together with purpose and compassion, the impact is truly powerful. Thank you to the Brampton Board of Trade and the entire Brampton community for wrapping their arms around Armagh and embodying the true spirit of Give to Gain. 💜

Join and many others on Saturday, February 28 for Armagh’s 5th Annual Walk 💙

As we prepare for another stretch of freezing, stormy weather, we’re reminded of the women and children who are forced to walk alone on the coldest nights while fleeing intimate partner violence.

By registering as a team, walker, or sponsor, you can help change that reality—raising critical funds and awareness in support of Armagh and the women and children we serve.

Let’s take action together this Coldest Night of the Year. ❄️👣

Consent must be clear, voluntary, and enthusiastic. Anything less is not consent.

❌ It’s not silence.
❌ It’s not coercion or pressure.
❌ It’s not valid if someone is intoxicated, asleep, or unable to understand.

Supporting Bill 43 – The Consent Awareness Week Act means committing to building a culture of respect and safety, where consent is understood and upheld. Together, we can break the cycle of gender-based violence.

At Armagh, we believe that a brighter future is only possible when we work together to achieve true gender equality.

While progress has been made, challenges remain—women in Canada still earn, on average, 87 cents for every dollar earned by men (Statistics Canada, 2023). Beyond wages, women—especially those from marginalized communities—continue to face barriers to safety, education, and opportunity.

Gender Equality Week is a time to celebrate the progress we’ve made, while also recognizing the work still ahead. Together, we must continue to challenge inequality, uplift women’s voices, and create a society where every person has equal rights, safety, and opportunities to thrive.

Let’s keep pushing for change—because when women rise, communities rise. 💜

Consent is more than a word—it’s about respect, safety, and the right to make choices about our own bodies.

Bill 43, the Consent Awareness Week Act, would designate the third week of September as Consent Awareness Week in Ontario. This matters because studies show that cases of gender-based sexual violence (GBSV) spike in the first six weeks of the school year, often called the “red zone.” By raising awareness and starting open conversations, we can create safer schools, workplaces, and communities.

Supporting Bill 43 means standing up for survivors, prioritizing prevention, and building a culture where consent is understood, respected, and expected.

💜 A heartfelt thank you to Pipes and Drums for their incredible $7,500 gift!

This generosity is helping us restore privacy and protection in our outdoor space — creating a place where women and children can feel safe, play, heal, and grow together. 🌱

For years, your support has walked alongside women and children at Armagh as they rebuild their lives. With this gift, you’re helping create more than just an outdoor area — you’re nurturing a space of dignity, hope, and community. ✨

Today is FASD Awareness Day – a time to increase understanding of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and show support for those living with it.

FASD is a lifelong disability that occurs when a developing baby is exposed to alcohol before birth. It can affect the brain and body in ways that may lead to challenges with learning, memory, attention, communication, emotional regulation, and daily living. Each person with FASD has unique strengths and struggles, and with the right supports, they can thrive.

📊 Research shows that FASD is more common than many realize, affecting an estimated 4% of Canadians – making it the most common developmental disability in the country. Yet stigma, misunderstanding, and lack of awareness continue to create barriers for individuals and families.

This awareness day is recognized on the 9th day of the 9th month to highlight the importance of alcohol-free pregnancies for the 9 months of gestation. It’s also a reminder of the role communities play in prevention, education, and supporting those impacted.

By raising awareness, we can reduce stigma, improve access to services, and ensure that people living with FASD are met with compassion, respect, and the resources they need to live full and meaningful lives.

Let’s stand together to increase understanding and build supportive communities. ❤️
