Lana Payne - Unifor National President brought the fire to our Unifor Local 2002 Convention today! Highlights from her powerful speech:
She slammed airport privatization and contract flipping for breaking down aviation, calling out AGI at Toronto.
Lana acknowledged that our 450 members at AGI Toronto lost their operating license in Toronto through this tactic. She hammered GTAA management for throwing workers out of work instead of leading the sector.
Lana praised all the delegates for their dedication and hard work, then announced a massive campaign, declaring: “The answer is neither privatization nor the status quo. The current system isn’t working — we have to fight back!”
She celebrated our progress at the bargaining table, saying “It’s our activism that makes us great!” She gave a shout-out to our ORNGE unit and called for universal healthcare while urging us to stay political.
With the Labour Code review now underway for aviation workers under federal jurisdiction, she declared: “Where we stand, we represent 70,000. We need to stay together! There is a lot at stake — we are not a union that will stand by and watch our rights eroded. We have work to do, and we’re not going to stop fighting this.”
A HUGE THANK YOU LANA PAYNE FOR ATTENDING AND INSPIRING US ALL!
Together, we are unstoppable. The fight continues! 💪✊
