We are a group of convention refugees in Canada appealing for urgent help to advocate with IRCC to facilitate the procedures for granting urgent Temporary Resident Permit for our families living in Gaza. We are a group of convention refugees in Canada, are requesting urgent assistance to facilitate procedures and granting urgent Temporary Resident Permit for our families (spouses and children) liv
ing in Gaza. We cannot express strongly enough how dire the entire humanitarian; financial and medical situation is there. In fact, anyone could be the next victim at any moment. Our kids live in constant fear of the bombs and the cutting off of their electricity, water, food supplies, medical aid, and the Internet. Despite all the promises of a ceasefire, the military escalation between the two parties could be restarted again at any time, which put them in fatal danger again. Our families are suffering from crushing stress, fear, trauma, and continual nightmares due to the terrifying hourly attacks. All of us have applied for permanent residency for our family members (inside and outside Canada) under the protected person program. Nevertheless, we are now anxiously awaiting the IRCC’s processing of our applications to obtain permanent residency. Family reunification has always been an important objective of Canada’s immigration policies. However, now it has been over 24 months of uncertainty for us—and for the loved ones from whom we have been separated. Being detached from our families in such a precarious situation—relentless armed conflict in Gaza on top of a crippling pandemic—has left us in anguish. To add insult to injury, it remains unclear how much longer the processing of permanent residency will take before we can reunite. We realize that there is a major backlog of cases, but we urge you to support emergency priority for our divided families. We have never lost our hope throughout these long years of waiting, respectfully followed the Canadian laws and regulations. We have been forthright and hard-working individuals, actively employed and individually and collectively contributing to Canada’s economy. We do hereby request to accelerate the reunification of families with ongoing PR Applications by:
• Obtaining an urgent Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) for our family members living in Gaza.
• Facilitating the TRP procedures for our families coming to Canada as humanitarian and emergency cases while waiting for the regular PR application process to be completed.
