On April 25, a generous group of patrons and their families joined us at our Malton warehouse to reflect on 15 years of Seva Food Bank and the future we are building together.

They sorted food side by side, shared a meal, and experienced firsthand what community care looks like in action.

And beyond that day, here is what community support helped make possible in April:
📦 1,398 families supported
🥕 Over 55,000 lbs of food sorted and distributed
🍲 Over 2,800 hot meals delivered to seniors

None of this happens without the volunteers, donors, partners, and supporters who continue to believe in this work year after year.

Today's Seva Day is in loving memory of our father, Harminder Singh Khera, on his birthday.

A life so gently lived, rooted in humility, guided by grace, our dad showed us what it means to serve, to love, and to give without measure.

Mann Nivaan, Matt Uchi, not just words, but a way of being he carried in every step, every smile, every act of seva.

Though you are no longer with us, your light moves through us, in the kindness we choose, the strength we carry, and the love we share with the world.

We feel you in the quiet moments, in the laughter you taught us to hold onto, and in the warmth you left behind.

Always on our minds, forever in our hearts.

Today's Seva Day is in loving memory of Makhan Singh Lachhar - 10 years ago today, we said goodbye, and life hasn’t been the same since.

Over the years, we’ve continued to see so much of you in your grandchildren — your qualities, your spirit, and the way you loved others so deeply.

We miss your love, comfort, kindness, and generosity each and every day.

There are still days when we wish to feel your hug, sit with you in silence, and know that we could lean on you no matter what.

Today’s Seva Day is in honour of Raman Gill, an
irreplaceable soul and the best daughter, big sister and friend we could ask for.

What a blessing it has been to have known, loved and been loved by her. There are never words pure enough to describe the essence of her.

It is said that grief is the price we pay for love and so we wear this grief like a badge of honour. She believed in internal gratitude and doing good things with the time you have in this world.

Today she would turn 30 years old, so we keep her memory alive in the way she lived, by doing good things.

Seva food bank was one place she would visit near the holidays to give back to those in need. Happy Birthday Rammu! We hope we can make you proud.

A huge thank you to Team Conagra for showing up for our community once again. 💛

Over 3 volunteer days, their team contributed 60 volunteer hours, helped us serve approximately 394 families, and supported everything from sorting food and packing produce to organizing shelves and preparing the warehouse.

Your continued support over the past two years has truly meant so much to us. Thank you for being such an uplifting presence at Seva Food Bank.
