“Kill the Indian. Save the child.”
On May 14th, Turtle Island Charity was invited by the Toronto Catholic District School Board to speak at a workshop hosted at Bishop Allen Academy.
During the session, Jason spoke about Indigenous history in Canada, the lasting impact of residential schools, and the importance of truth, education, and reconciliation.
These conversations are not always easy, but they are necessary. Education is one of the most important steps toward understanding, healing, and meaningful reconciliation. 🧡
Thank you to Bishop Allen Academy and the Toronto Catholic District School Board for creating space for these discussions.

Some truths don’t need rewriting. Only remembering. Walk lightly.

“Don’t eat me!” 🫎😂
Regan is a natural leader—vocal, kind, and easily the most comfortable kid on the reserve. Whether she’s giving a moose life-saving advice or teaching us how to say “I love you” in her language, her confidence is exactly what Turtle Island Charity is all about.
Watch as she teaches us how to say “Thank you,” “Water,” and “I love you.” 🧡

Nothing in nature is “just there.” Everything is in relationship. Listen.

“I’m not prey.” 🦁
Meet Sage. She’s an explorer, a future Maliseet language keeper, and clearly, a force to be reckoned with. When we sat down to talk about animals and adventure, she gave us the best reminder of the week: knowing exactly who you are and where you stand.
This is the heart of what we do at Turtle Island Charity. Beyond the campfires and the bannock, we’re building a space where kids like Sage can reclaim their language, share their culture, and grow into the leaders they’re meant to be.
Turn the volume up to hear Sage teach us the Maliseet word for Eagle! 🦅✨
Help us keep our summer camps free for the next generation of explorers. Link in bio to support. 🧡

Respect isn’t a concept. It’s a practice.
