Colony Catz & Company

Colony Catz & Company Welcome! Please follow us as we share the lives of former colony cats in Mississauga, Ontario.

Colony Catz Company is a non-profit organization that cares for 5 feral colonies in Mississauga, Ontario. Susan, the colony caretaker has tirelessly trapped and released (after spaying/neutering), fed and looked after all needs of the feral colonies alone for over a decade. Feeding and veterinary care has always been an expense that Susan had covered out of her own pocket. After an injury that req

uired a break to heal, Susan decided that she needed help with colony care and reached out to find like-minded individuals who could help ensure the needs of the colonies would be met when she is not able to be there for them. With the recent help of food donations by local rescues as well as private donations, Susan and team have been able to continue caring for these cats that call these colonies home. The rescue is always looking for regular volunteers (must be 18 years of age or older) at 3 colonies and high school student/parent volunteers at 2 colonies (for Volunteering Credit). We are also appreciative of any food (wet or dry) as well as any monetary donations to help cover veterinary costs.

Once again, we are reaching up for help if possible 😞

We know these are extremely tough times and we understand not everybody will be able to help. Although we don’t have cats at the Colony currently (we are still monitoring though), we are supporting Rescues that have helped us with our cats in the past or currently have some of our cats. Two of these rescues are in desperate need of help in terms of wet and dry food.😿😿

These wonderful rescuers have been there for us, and our Colony Catz and we want to try your best to be there for them, in their time of need. If anybody is able to send us anything through the Amazon wish list, we will ensure that we use it to fill some very deserving hungry bellys 🐱🐈‍⬛.

Once again, we appreciate all your support whether you are able to help in this way or not. We still love to hear your feedback and know that you are rooting for us and our kitties

Thank you.

MR. GREY, MAGGIE, and MJ SAY HI!

🐈‍⬛MR GERY
If you recall, Mr. Gray was with our Colony for a year or so until we decided to retire him to the Indoor life as he was showing us he was finally ready. He is thriving, super affectionate , sleeps in bed with his mom, and is doing great! 😺

🐈‍⬛MAMA MAGIE
About a year ago we discovered Maggie, a pregnant kitty who had given birth at our Colony! The kittens are amazing and mostly all adopted now. But Mom took a WHILE to socialize🫢. Our Colony caretaker did such an amazing job with her for months and now she can actually touch and pet Maggie!! 😮😻
This is a huGe breakthrough as it was months and months of her completely avoiding coming close to the caretaker, and now Maggie Allows pets! And she actually likes it!🥰

🐈‍⬛ MYSTERIOUS MJ
A few months back that same caretaker, spotted another cat at the colony that looks almost exactly like Maggie. We were so confused. Is it her brother? older son? 🧐
He was SUPER skittish but we can see hes not been ear tipped, so we quickly trapped him to get neutered. Since we really wanted to close down the colony as we have no other cats, we decided to bring him inside and try to socialize him. After 1-2 months in a XL crate with daily socialization and sleeping in the same room him, MJ is now accustomed to being indoors with Maggie and Mr. Gray. All three are together happy and playfull chase eachother and love cuddling together 🥰🥰

Although MJ and Maggie are still learning to fully accept being pet, it is such a pleasure to see their progress . We are so grateful for amazing Colony caretaker to take the time to socialize, and reap the rewards of their efforts

Thank you Miss Dixie's Foundation for the opportunity to get food. MJ & Mr. Grey think Nutram Pet Products are a hit!

NOIR is available for adoption at Upper Credit Humane Society.
He was renamed “toothless” by a foster but we all know he is our Noir 💕.
He is sweet strong boy, likes pets , CALM cats and humane company. FIV + can lead a long normal healthy life , best in a stress free calm home. Be careful with open doors. Please share his post to help him find the right home !

ADOPTED March 2025.
Toothless was part of a colony of cats for nine years. He was brought to the UCHS on November 7, 2024, after it was observed that he needed medical attention. He received a dental cleaning and a few of his pearly whites were extracted. Toothless recovered in a foster home where he enjoyed the company of other cats and being petted. Bloodwork has revealed that he is FIV* positive .
Toothless is truly the sweetest and most grateful senior cat we have had. He has endured the challenges of living outside for most of his life, and now he deserves to experience the comforts of a loving indoor home. Please consider opening your heart to this fourteen year old sweetheart.

FIV* : Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), is a chronic and progressive viral infection that weakens a cat’s immune system. It is a lentivirus, meaning it is a slowly progressing virus that can remain dormant within the body for extended periods. FIV is specific to cats and cannot be transmitted to humans.

Another successful trap at the Colony by our amazingly talented team 😻👍 .
We think he’s a boy, but we’re not sure, but we’re fairly positive he’s related to Maggie, a female cat that gave birth at the Colony last summer. This cat was very elusive , only coming out when we were not around , so we never actually saw him in person. After about two weeks of tracking his times on camera and training him to eat inside of a zip tied open trap , Today we were very happy to have finally captured the little one 🎉!!
He is in a caregivers home right now, and will be going for his surgery spa day soon! YAY

Thank you! thank you! thank you!! We are so grateful for everyone’s support and dedication to cats in need 🙏🙏

Update: thank you all! We would love some dry kibble please if possible ! That’s what we are out atm.

Hello! We are reaching out in hopes of getting some donations for the Colony.
Currently, we are out totally of dry food / kibble. And low of wet food. If anybody’s able to send us a bag or two of kibble and a couple of cases of wet food that would tie us over for a while! 😻 We would also be happy with churru tube treats. Thank you everyone for everything.

✨✨UPDATE ON CURLY ✨✨

Some of you may know Curly with Sharon from the Shelburne feral cat rescue. She’s actually in Sharon’s personal home, along with a couple of other cats there. We are very lucky that Sharon has personally committed to taking her in and allowing her to live in her private home forever.

Curly is doing amazing !
She’s getting along well with the other cats and she even has an indoor/outdoor space that she can explore (very secure).

She loves sitting on top of the bed, and on top of the cupboards sunbathing and looking out the window .

Sharon is OK with having curly for the rest of her life in her home where she can have all the amenities of cat company, indoor outdoor space, sunlight , windows, unlimited food etc . And the cherry on top is that Sharon has actually managed to touch and pet Curly a couple of times.

But yes , Curly does run and hide when somebody approaches, but when she is cornered she will allow touch .

So yea , she is doing fantastic!

She in a good environment. She is enjoying being there. And she’s able to get more attention because she’s not in the rescue with many other cats , she’s in a private at home where she can get more attention and enjoy her remaining time as a retired Colony cat 😻

Pics coming soon !

The concept is so simple, yet so many in our general population have yet to grasp the full understanding. 💔

Our goal is to gently educate, without judgment. Folks can have all types of different circumstances factoring into their current situations. Do what you can to assist those you are able.

1️⃣ cat matters.
