Mission Community Foundation Announces New GJ Harris Trades Education Fund

Mission, BC – Mission Community Foundation announces the launch of the GJ Harris Trades Education Fund. This fund is designed to support students pursuing post-secondary education in trades.
The GJ Harris Trades Education Fund is unique in that it provides both scholarships and grants, helping to reduce financial barriers for students at multiple stages of their educational journey.
“There is a significant and growing need for funding and assistance for students pursuing trades education,” said Shelley Carter, Board Chair of Mission Community Foundation. “Skilled trades are essential to our community, especially in the building sector, yet many students struggle to afford post-secondary training. This fund is an investment in both people and the future strength of our local workforce.”
Mission Community Foundation recognizes the importance of supporting accessible education pathways. The GJ Harris Trades Education Fund aims to strengthen the local economy while creating meaningful opportunities for students to succeed in high-demand careers.
As this is an open fund, community members are encouraged to donate directly via www.missioncommunityfoundation.org or to any of the many funds supporting Mission residents.

After a meaningful chapter with our organization, Jamie Hayes has made the decision to conclude her time as Executive Director, and we wish her all the best in her next chapter.

Jamie has been an excellent support for our organization, having integrity, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to our mission. Jamie helped us move forward with her vast knowledge of marketing and advertising. She helped build the culture of care and collaboration that defines our work today. Her compassion and work ethic has left a lasting impact on our partners groups and the community.

While it is unfortunate to see Jamie go, we are profoundly grateful for her dedication and the countless contributions she has made. We wish Jamie every success and fulfillment in her future endeavours.

We will share updates on staff transition plans in the coming weeks. In the meantime, we stay committed to moving forward with the solid foundation Jamie has helped build.

Please join us in thanking Jamie for her dedication and commitment in bringing a higher standard to the Mission Community Foundation.
