We have some great looking volcanoes! Next week we are going to paint them and make a landscape around them. There was some great teamwork tonight. Can’t wait to see what they come up with next week.

Thank you to everyone who came to the Remembrance Day ceremony today. We are very proud of our Beavers and Cubs. They represented 1st Gretna Green scouting very well. We also had two members represent our Cubs at the remembrance Day ceremony and Nelson.

Enjoy the rest of your week. We will see you at Saint Samuels on Monday night. We are starting our volcanoes. Please dress for a mess.

The Remembrance Day service at the Civic Centre starts at 10:40 on Tuesday morning. If your child is participating in the service, please meet us at the Zamboni entrance by 10:20. Please dress for the conditions. Warm socks and shoes/boots are a must. The floor boards are over the ice surface and it is cold on the feet. I will draw names out of a hat for one Beaver and one Cub to lay our wreath with the Girl Guides. If everything is the same as in previous years, all of our members will have the opportunity to lay a wreath at the end of the ceremony. If your child already has a necker, please bring it. If not, I will have one for him.

Tonight is the Beaver Super Moon. It is the closest and brightest super moon of the year. It is the last full moon before winter. It is called the Beaver Super moon because this is typically when the beavers would take shelter in their lodges for the year. Take your Beaver outside to see the super moon! It is already rising in the sky.

We continued working on our arts personal achievement badges tonight. Our Beavers and Cubs made either story books or graphic novels.

There will be no meeting next Monday, November 10th. If your child is available, we will be participating in the Remembrance Day ceremony at the Civic Centre. If your child is going to participate in the ceremony, please let Kelly know by November 10th so we know how many to expect. If your child has already confirmed, you don’t have to do it again.

We will meet again on November 17. We will be starting to build our paper mache volcanoes. Please have your child wear old clothes. It is guaranteed to be messy but fun! We could definitely use a few parent helpers on this night. If you could save any newspapers or flyers (not glossy paper) it would be a big help.

On behalf of the 1st Gretna Green Scouting team, I would like to thank everyone who generously supported our Beavers and Cubs at Apple Day today. Our members enjoyed meeting new people and telling them about our group. Thank you to Miramichi Walmart for hosting us.

Some people wonder what our Apple Day funds are used for. We use it to fund our activities and outings and support our programming. We wouldn’t be able to do as much as we do without the community support. Thank you!

Our Apple Day fundraiser is on Saturday, October 4 at Walmart from 10-2. Our members will have donation cans and give out apples as a thank you for the donation. All of the money raised stays with our group. We use the donations to offset the cost of activities so we can keep them either at no cost or low cost to our member families.

If you are interested in a fun volunteer role, we are still looking for Scouters. We have a waiting list for children wanting to join but can’t unless we have a few more volunteers. I will have more information at our Apple Day table.

Our members and volunteers would like to thank everyone for their support over the years.
