At Restorations, we recognize the importance of creating communities where all survivors feel safe, seen, and supported.

Trafficking and exploitation disproportionately impact many marginalized communities, including 2SLGBTQI+ individuals. At Restorations, we remain committed to compassionate, inclusive care for all survivors.

Sally felt God nudging her to join Restorations’ Board of Directors when we were first founded in 2013, and since then her passion for and knowledge about the issue continued to grow. Earlier this year, Sally retired as our longest standing volunteer having been on our Board of Directors for over 12 years.

We've turned on the comment function on the blog post so you can leave your messages of gratitude or a story of Sally's impact on you or Restorations.

During Sexual Violence Awareness Month, we recognize the deep intersections between sexual violence, exploitation, and human trafficking.

At Restorations, it is our foundational belief that every person is loved and made perfectly and purposefully by God with the right to live free from exploitation and abuse, and we are committed to supporting survivors through safe housing, survivor-led programming, and community care.

Red Dress Day is a day of remembrance and action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people (MMIWG2S). The red dress has become a powerful symbol of the absence and loss experienced by Indigenous communities, and of the ongoing violence that continues to impact Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people across Canada.

This day has a profound connection to anti-trafficking work. Indigenous women and girls are disproportionately targeted for trafficking and exploitation due to systemic racism, colonial violence, and ongoing structural inequities. Red Dress Day is a reminder that this is not separate from our work – it is central to it.

We honour the lives of those who are missing and murdered, we stand with families and communities who carry this grief, and we recommit to action that is rooted in truth, accountability, and meaningful change.

We also take this time to amplify the work of some of the Indigenous agencies and organizations in our community we've had the privilege of working with and sitting around circles:
Native Women's Centre Hamilton
HRIC Hamilton
Ganohkwasra Family Assault Support Services
Grandmother's Voice

Social connection is essential to overall health and well-being. This week during Mental Health Week, CMHA National is inviting people across Canada to Come Together - a call to spark small, everyday actions of connection and recognize the role we all play in supporting mental health through relationship and community.

At Restorations, we see this every day in our holistic approach to care, which centres physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. Connection is not separate from healing - it is part of it.

Together, we can strengthen mental health, build healthier communities, and help more people feel seen, supported, and connected.

A new blog post - reflections on resiliency and growth.

"Those daffodils that sprout up in unusual places on our property — there’s something beautiful in their ongoing resiliency, but there’s also something lonely about their placement. They’re in places that don’t receive a lot of care or attention. They aren’t surrounded by other plants. But year after year, they continue to grow."

At Nancy’s House, there are daffodils springing up in various unexpected places on the property - not even in a garden bed, but sporadically in the lawn. To my knowledge, these bulbs weren’t planted by us or our residents in recent years. Yet, year after year, they pop up in April, their cheery ...

We’re honoured to have contributed as a Consultation Participant to an important new report by Voice Found in partnership with the Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking – Nurturing Hope: A Peer Support Path for Trafficking Survivors.

This work is a powerful reflection of what’s possible when survivor leadership, lived expertise, and frontline experience come together. It affirms what so many in the sector know to be true: peer support can be transformative – fostering connection, reducing isolation, and supporting healing in meaningful, lasting ways.

We’re grateful for Voice Found’s work, and to be part of a growing movement advancing ethical, sustainable, survivor-informed approaches to care.
