Why This Celebration Matters ❤️
In today’s world, our children are growing up surrounded by many different messages about identity, culture, and belonging. As South Asian families, we want them to know that embracing their culture is something they can do with confidence, curiosity, and joy.
And what better way to build that connection than by letting them experience it for themselves?
Traditionally, Ganesha idols were created from natural materials such as clay—materials that could respectfully return to the earth. This year, we are going back to those roots by giving our children the opportunity to create their own Ganesha using eco-friendly materials. 🌿
But this morning is about much more than making an idol.
As little hands shape their Ganesha, we’ll sing bhajans, share stories of Ganesha, talk about what he represents, and help our children understand the meaning behind the celebration. It will be a kid-focused, hands-on experience where culture isn't simply something they hear about—it is something they participate in.
Most importantly, we want to do this together.
Culture becomes stronger when it is shared—with our children, our families, our friends, and our community. We would love to see families come together, meet one another, and give our children memories of Ganesh Chaturthi filled with creativity, laughter, devotion, and belonging.
So this Ganesh Chaturthi, let’s go back to the roots: the right materials, the right intentions, and a celebration surrounded by family, friends, and community.
Let’s create together. Let’s celebrate together. And let’s help our children carry these traditions forward in their own beautiful way. 🙏🌿
