Looking back at some of our favourite things about CLNH Day Program! 💙

This year, we sat down with our supported individuals from Milton Day Program and asked them to share what they love most about the program, their favourite experiences and what some of our staff love about it.

These voices are a great reminder that there are meaningful opportunities and supports available in our community for adults with all different abilities.

Beautiful morning with Grandmother's Voice as we joined in with our community to honour and remember the children.

Many of our staff and supported individuals came out to honour National Day for Truth and Reconciliation by wearing orange, learning the truth of residential schools, and walk the path toward real healing and reconciliation.

We feel honoured to stand together and hold space to support the vision of Grandmothers Voice.

Today is National Day for Truth & Reconciliation 🧡

Reconciliation is not a single day on the calendar, it is an everyday commitment to respect, restore, and relearn how we live together on this land. We carry the weight of this day in our hearts as we continue doing the work of true community inclusion.

Today, CLNH will be joining the Grandmothers Voice Walk to Remember the Children, guided by the stories, truths, and leadership of local Indigenous Elders.

Attending helps us reflect on the ongoing work of reconciliation and our responsibility to build respectful relationships and understanding within our community.

Last week, our Children & Family Services team officially kicked off their F’avourite Words Launch! 💜

The CanChild F’avourite Words framework (or f-words) use 6 strength based words that begin with an F to guide child development and childhood disability care.

Our CFS team has been dedicated to implementing Family, Fun, Fitness, Future, Functioning and Friends into their work with children, families and their everyday life experiences!

This weeks launch included a visual showcase of the new CLNH F’avourite Words logo and deepening their understanding on the “why” behind this work and how these words can support the whole person.

Our CFS team spent the morning at McMaster University attending the 5th annual Dr. Peter B. Dent Memorial Lecture, Honouring a Legacy and Inspiring the Future 💜

Keynote speaker Dr. Peter Rosenbaum, Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and co-founder of the CanChild Centre for Childhood-Onset Disability Research led a powerful discussion on 21st-century childhood disability, the WHO framework, and CanChild’s “F-words” for child development!

Our team is excited to continue implementing these vital insights into our daily practice as we work to empower children and support families we serve everyday ✨

Community Living North Halton (CLNH) is looking for passionate, community-minded individuals to join our Volunteer Board of Directors and help guide our strategic direction.

📅 3-year volunteer term | Approximately 9 meetings per year + committee work
