OTCC 2026 - Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens

The Ontario Tree Climbing Championship takes place every September and features 5 preliminary events: a work climb, belayed speed climb, simulated aerial rescue, ascent event and throw line challenge. The top 4 men and top 2 women competitors from the preliminaries advance to the Master’s Challenge, a final event where the Ontario Men’s and Women’s Champion are crowned. These 2 top climbers go on

to compete at the North American and then the International Tree Climbing Championship the following summer. A trade show with arborist equipment is featured and spectators can attend this free event, as well as try climbing like an arborist in the “Climb For All Ages” under the guidance of a professional arborist.

The 2026 Ontario Tree Climbing Championship is looking for volunteers to help make this exciting event possible.

High school students can earn community service hours, meet new people, and gain valuable event experience. Other volunteers are eligible to earn CEUs.

If you’re on the waitlist, we’ll notify you as soon as a spot becomes available and update the list online with any changes.

A friendly reminder: Climbers must be present at the park for mandatory roll call at the following times:

Thursday at 4:00 PM
Friday at 8:00 AM
Saturday at 8:00 AM

Climber orientation and gear check will begin after Thursday’s roll call. Please make sure you arrive on time!
