Volunteers came together on May 22 to help bring the Healing Garden at The Gatehouse to life. Supported by a Green Cities Foundation grant, the community planting day added native and pollinator-friendly flowers, trees, and shrubs that will enhance the space’s restorative environment for healing, reflection, and connection.
Designed as a trauma-informed green space, the Healing Garden at The Gatehouse will support survivors of childhood sexual abuse through therapeutic programming, mindfulness activities, expressive arts sessions, and informal community use, while also enhancing biodiversity and resilience.
“This space gets used quite a bit, not just by us but the whole community. It’s a fantastic place to come and relax,” said Stewart Thompson, a program coordinator at The Gatehouse. “Thanks to the Green Cities Foundation we have a tremendous grant with lots and lots of flowers.”
Thank you to everyone who helped create a greener, healthier, and more welcoming community space.
