As we recognize National AccessAbility Week, Ontario Cycling is proud to celebrate the athletes, coaches, volunteers, and community partners helping make cycling more inclusive for all.

A highlight of this year's efforts was the HCC/OC Parafestival in Petawawa, which brought together 14 athletes from across Ontario and Quebec for four days of learning, development, and connection. Supported by dedicated coaches, mechanics, volunteers, and support staff, participants had the opportunity to build skills, gain confidence, and experience the power of adaptive cycling in a welcoming and inclusive environment. The event showcased the incredible impact that accessible sport can have, with athletes describing the festival as unforgettable and praising the strong sense of community, professionalism, and support throughout the weekend.

Ontario Cycling is also proud to continue offering Try-It opportunities in handcycling and tandem cycling, providing individuals with disabilities a chance to experience cycling in a supportive, low-pressure environment. These programs help introduce new participants to the sport while creating pathways for future recreational and competitive involvement.

Looking ahead, Team Ontario athletes will represent the province at the 2026 Canadian Para-Road Championships in Saint-Georges, Quebec later this month.

From the success of the HCC/OC Parafestival in Petawawa, to ongoing Try-It opportunities in handcycling and tandem cycling, to preparing Team Ontario athletes for the 2026 Canadian Para-Road Championships, we remain committed to creating accessible pathways into sport.

Together, we're breaking down barriers, building community, and creating opportunities for more people to experience the joy of cycling. 🚴‍♀️♿💙
