Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) is Canada's national awareness campaign, shining a light on mental illness and substance use health, reducing stigma, and encouraging conversations about the experiences of those affected. This year's theme "Equal Health. Fair Funding. No Exceptions.", is a reminder that everyone deserves fair and equitable access to mental health and substance use supports.
Nearly half of adults with developmental disabilities also experience mental health or substance use concerns, making access to the right supports even more important. At CLH Developmental Support Services, we know how important accessible, inclusive, and person-directed care is for people with developmental disabilities and their families. We work alongside those we serve to provide support, build meaningful connections, and help navigate these challenges.
Mental health and substance use healthcare are rights, not privileges. Everyone deserves timely, inclusive support, with no exceptions. 💜
