Some moments are bigger than basketball.
After competing for an Ontario Cup Gold and Silver, two teams that have battled each other countless times over the years came together as one.
The South Muskoka Breakers and Midland Waves have shared many hard-fought games, and with that comes a tremendous amount of respect.
After the final buzzer, wins and losses no longer mattered.
What mattered was a teammate, a friend, and a young athlete facing a difficult injury.
Players, coaches, and families joined together to offer support, prayers, and encouragement for his recovery.
It was an emotional moment and a reminder of what youth sports are truly about.
Competition builds character, but compassion reveals it.
Our thoughts remain with the Breakers player, his family, teammates, coaches, and community. We are all wishing Mitch a full and speedy recovery.
