Our Mission: To provide a loving home for homeless and abandoned boys in Nairobi, Kenya. Why We Do It: Kenya is a country where poverty, deprivation, disease and neglect result in too many children being abandoned to the streets, vulnerable and alone. Nairobi is a city of 4 million. According to the Global Urban Development nearly half of the people in Nairobi live in slums, in grueling poverty. T

he majority live below the poverty line of CDN $1.50 per day. Because of poverty, children are often taken out of school to help provide food for the family or are abandoned. How We Do It: - We accept boys who are living on the streets, destitute, abandoned and alone in Nairobi, Kenya. - We can accommodate up to 25 boys living in the home at any given time. - The home is a family unit, not an institution. Love, acceptance and belonging are key components. - We focus on quality care, healing from trauma, emotional nurturing, quality education, adequate health care and quality housing, all provided with love. - Our boys are given dignity, respect, love, acceptance, encouragement, security and opportunity. - Our staff members themselves live in the family environment in our home. - All the children become “siblings”, and all partake in household chores and responsibilities. Life4kids Canada is a registered charity. We are formally registered under the following authorities: Life4Kids Canada is a registered Canadian charity under the Income Tax Act. The home operated in Nairobi, Kenya is a licensed children’s home pursuant to the Charitable Children’s Institutions in Kenya. Sunday is a Day for Practical Skills! 🧁👨‍🍳🌱🐓

Today at Life4Kids, our boys spent part of their Sunday learning how to bake cakes. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to develop practical life skills while having fun and working together as a team.

We strongly believe that skills are among the greatest gifts a young person can acquire. By exposing our children to hands-on learning experiences, we are helping them build confidence, creativity, responsibility, and independence for their future.

In addition to baking, our boys regularly participate in gardening and animal husbandry activities. These practical experiences teach them the value of hard work, responsibility, teamwork, and self-sufficiency. Through caring for animals and growing crops, they gain knowledge that can benefit them throughout their lives.

At Life4Kids, we are committed not only to providing education but also to equipping our children with valuable life skills that can open doors to future opportunities and self-reliance. Our home provides a variety of learning opportunities that create a healthy, nurturing environment where every child can grow, discover their talents, and prepare for a brighter future.

We are proud of our boys for their enthusiasm and willingness to learn. The future is bright when young minds are empowered with knowledge and practical skills.

For the past two days, our boys have been forced to remain at home due to the nationwide transport strike caused by the sharp rise in fuel prices. The private transport sector announced the strike on Sunday, affecting movement across the entire country.

Even in the middle of these challenges, our boys have still been able to continue studying, reading, and doing research because they have access to a library here at Life4Kids Home. Instead of losing valuable learning time, they have been able to remain focused and encouraged.

As we watch them sitting quietly in the library, studying with such determination, our hearts are filled with deep gratitude. Moments like these remind us how precious and life-changing this resource truly is.

To every supporter, partner, and friend who has stood with us and helped provide this library for our children, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your kindness may seem simple to some, but to these boys, it is a gift that continues to open doors, inspire hope, and shape their future in ways words cannot fully express.

We are sincerely humbled by your love, generosity, and continued faith in the work of Life4Kids. Thank you for helping us give these children opportunities they would otherwise never have had.

Having the privilege of doing homework under a tree, surrounded by fresh air after a full day in the classroom, is truly a gift.

After spending nearly eight hours in school, our boys find joy, relaxation, and renewed focus as they sit together outdoors learning, sharing ideas, and helping one another with their homework. Moments like these remind us that education is not only about books, but also about the environment in which children grow, connect, and thrive.

At Life4Kids, we are deeply grateful for the space we have a safe and spacious compound where the boys can play freely and also study comfortably when the weather allows.

The Competency-Based Education (CBE) curriculum in Kenya continues to inspire children to think beyond the classroom encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on skills.

This week, our primary school boys were given a simple but powerful assignment: to create a homemade mat using only thread 🧵. What one of our boys (11 years old) produced is truly remarkable a reflection of innovation, patience, and independent thinking.

At Life4Kids, we are deeply committed to nurturing every child’s potential by giving them the freedom to explore, create, and discover their unique abilities. Moments like these remind us that when children are given the right environment, they can achieve far beyond expectations.

After only a few weeks with us, the change in him is something you can feel, not just see.
The smile that was once missing is now bright and alive. The fear in his eyes is slowly being replaced with courage. His small body, once weak and vulnerable, is now full of energy and life.

This precious little boy, only two years old, was rescued from the streets during the heavy floods in Kenya. Exposed, and at great risk, his life could have been lost. But by grace, we found him in time. Today, he is safe. He is loved. He belongs.

It is difficult to put into words what this truly means. A life that could have been gone… now has a future.

Being able to do homework outdoors after school is such a refreshing and enriching experience.

At Life4Kids, our boys attend a standard private school, and each evening they return home with assignments to complete. We are grateful to have a beautiful outdoor space under the trees where they can comfortably work on their homework, freely engage in discussions, and support one another in their learning.

In addition, they have access to research materials and a library, giving them even greater opportunities to grow academically and develop a love for learning.

We do not take these moments for granted. It is truly a blessing to provide such an environment where the boys can thrive both academically and socially.

The weather in Kenya has not been very favorable for outdoor activities lately. With energetic and active boys, having a safe and creative space to keep them engaged during this rainy season is truly a blessing.

At Life4Kids, we are deeply grateful to have a dedicated music room and a spacious living room where the boys can play, learn, and express themselves even when the outdoors is wet. Our music room has become more than just a room with instruments it is a therapy space. As the boys sing, drum, and play, healing quietly takes place. Music gives them a voice, restores joy, and gently helps mend past trauma.

This weekend, we were honored to receive our dear friends from Norway 🇳🇴. The house was filled with laughter, music, and beautiful moments of connection. Seeing the boys interact freely and joyfully with our visitors reminded us once again how far they have come.

We are also incredibly thankful for the solar system installed in our home. Even when the area experiences power outages, our home remains bright and stable. This has made a tremendous difference in the boys’ daily lives, ensuring comfort, safety, and continuity in their routines.
