This weekend our team hosted another 15 youth from the 342 Bedford Lions Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron for a day of learning about ground search & rescue.
They practiced orienteering with a compass on our compass course and worked through two scenarios. The first scenario was an evidence search, where they learned and practiced evidence search techniques, and were given the opportunity to use gps and radios. For the second scenario, they were transported by SXS to a remote rescue, where they learned and practiced how to use the litter and mule to transport a casualty to safety. They also had a chance to act as Command while learning about the equipment we carry in our packs.
We would like to thank the organizers of the 342 Bedford Lions RCACS and especially the cadets who were engaged for the entire day.
..and while such training is important we also made sure not to miss the Canadian women's hockey team victory. On to gold!
