We are pleased to announce that the Woolgatherers have once again been chosen to participate in the annual Filberg Festival which will run from August 2-4. 2024 is the Festivals 40th birthday and the Woolgatherers are proud to say they have been a part of this amazing event for many of those years. As usual we will be demonstrating the time honored crafts of weaving, spinning and knitting as well as having items produced by our members for sale. On the Saturday we plan to feature one of our members journey into locally growing, processing, spinning and weaving linen. The Festival is great fun and we hope you will come and visit us at our vendor site.

The weaving group decided last fall to weave bags and donate them to the local womens centre. Here are some of the lovely bags produced. In addition, there were donations of a wide variety of toiletry items that can be put in the bags by the centre staff based on individual needs. We try and do our bit for our community.

I have been very remiss in not posting on this site recently. The group is still going strong. We now meet twice a month. The first Monday is our learning meeting where one of the group teaches the rest of us how to ..... our the past few months we have learned ice dying, felting a small bowl, preparing and spinning locally grown and processed linen, the pleasure and pitfalls of getting published, macrame, beading on knitting, and Naulbinding (spelling ??). The third Mondaybis focused on spinning but we don't discourage members bringing other handiwork.

We are looking forward to our AGM in June and the annual picnic in July. In August we will have a demo and retail spot at the Filberg Festival. In the fall we will start our new year in September with a whole new slate of fun and learning.

We had a successful Filberg Festival. It was hot, weather wise, but we had a lovely shaded spot that caught a few ocean breezes. Thanks to all who dropped in to see us. Not sure where we will be next so stay tuned

Hello friends of the Woolgatherers. This weekend we have a booth at the Filberg Festival. Come on down and say hello. We have a great selection of woven, knitted and hand dyed articles you might love to wear or give as a gift. Never too early to get in a bit of Christmas shopping. Oh yes, we have a good selection of tea towels too.

We will be part of this sale.

We will be part of this sale.

The Merville Hall Christmas Craft Fair is slated for Saturday, Dec. 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In a brilliant bit of timing, this year the Craft Fair will be on the same day as the Black Creek Community Craft Fair and the Dove Creek “Little Craft Faire That Could” market.

Unfortunately. Due to COVID we have not met for over a year. Small groups of Weavers and knitters have met via Zoom but the personal connections have definitely been missing. Now some of the restrictions have been relaxed the knitters meet outdoors at the Anderton Gardens on Wednesday’s from 1:30-3:30. plans are to regroup as the Woolgatherers in September at the Merville Hall. Stay tuned for more details. Have a wonderful summer.
