Young Skaters Trade Summer Heat for Ice

👟⛸️While summer is in full swing outside, young figure skaters in the Nicola Valley are spending their time on the ice. Members of the Nicola Valley Figure Skating Club have returned to the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena for three weeks of summer training.

👟⛸️The program brings together skaters of different ages and skill levels. 7-18 years. Younger skaters who have progressed through introductory programs are continuing to build their skating abilities through the club’s Junior Academy. Older STAR and competitive skaters are using the summer sessions to prepare for another competitive season starting in November with OK InterClub. NVSC successfully hosted this large event last season.

👟⛸️For some skaters, summer training is also a chance to learn new skills. They may begin working on new solos and music while continuing to develop their technique and confidence on the ice.

👟⛸️Once the three-week session finishes, the skaters will move into preseason training before the regular season begins in October. With competitions expected to start around November, the summer program provides an important foundation for the months ahead.

👟⛸️For the Nicola Valley Figure Skating Club, the summer ice is more than a way to escape the heat. It is an opportunity for skaters to improve, prepare for competition and get a head start on another season of figure skating.

🏒Week 3 is also NVSC Power skating Camp for hockey players to get an edge on their skating skills.
