Even the birds are peeking out of their homes to see what the nłeʔképmx Land Guardians are up to.

From bird surveys to wildlife monitoring and maintaining our presence on the land, every day brings new sights, stories, and responsibilities across nłeʔképmx territory. Grateful for these moments of connection and the work of caring for our lands and waters. 🌿🪶

Chasing sunsets, black bears (just kidding 😅), puffball mushrooms, field notes, and cheesy smiles.

Our Projects Crew has been on quite the adventure lately! From supporting stewardship initiatives and exploring new areas on the land to documenting observations and building partnerships, every day brings something different.

The long days, beautiful views, unexpected discoveries, and shared laughs are all part of the journey. We're grateful for the opportunity to be out on the land doing meaningful work and helping care for nłeʔképmx territory.

👻🌲 Who you gonna call?

From illegal dumping and wildfire concerns to wildlife violations and suspicious activity on the land - there are a lot of different reporting lines out there.

It can be hard knowing who to contact, especially when you’re out on the land and something just doesn’t feel right.

This post is here to help point community members in the right direction ☎️🧭

And remember:

While you can call these agencies yourself…

📞 you’re always welcome to call the nɬeʔképmx Guardians at 1-778-620-2121

We’ll do our best to help guide concerns, connect you with the appropriate agency, and support stewardship on the land.

🌿 Together, we help care for the territory.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Match the Crew to Their Guardian contest! We loved seeing your guesses and reading your reasons for why each animal belonged to a particular crew.

Over the past year, the nłeʔképmx Guardians Program has grown into four dedicated crews, each with its own unique focus and responsibilities. To reflect the work they do, each crew selected a Guardian that represents their role, values, and strengths.

👣 Community Response Crew: Sasquatch
Strong, resilient, and always ready to answer the call when communities need support.

🦫 Projects Crew: Beaver
Builders and restorers, working alongside partners to improve habitat, support stewardship initiatives, and leave lasting impacts on the land.

🦅 Patrol Crew: Bald Eagle
A watchful presence on the land, observing from above and protecting tmixʷ through monitoring, education, and stewardship.

🐺 Logistics Crew: Wolf
Working together behind the scenes to coordinate operations, manage resources, support crews, and ensure the entire program moves forward as one pack.

Each of these crews plays an essential role in protecting and stewarding nłeʔképmx lands and waters. While their responsibilities may differ, they all work toward the same goal: caring for tmixʷ for current and future generations.

🐺🦅🦫👣 MATCH THE CREW TO THEIR ANIMAL! 👣🦫🦅🐺

Over the last year, the nłeʔképmx Guardians Program has grown significantly. What started as a small team has expanded into four dedicated crews, each playing a unique role in protecting and stewarding nłeʔképmx lands and waters.

🌲 Patrol Crew – Our boots-on-the-ground presence. They spend their days on the land conducting patrols, monitoring wildlife and habitats, supporting land users, and sharing knowledge while helping protect tmíxʷ.

🛠️ Projects Crew – Working alongside partners such as BC Wildlife Federation, K’en T’em, Raincoast Conservation Foundation, and others to support restoration projects, habitat enhancement, environmental monitoring, and stewardship initiatives.

🚒 Community Response Crew – Supporting communities through wildfire mitigation, FireSmart activities, funeral support, cultural burning, trail clearing, and emergency response efforts when needed.

📋 Logistics Crew – The planners and coordinators behind the scenes. They manage scheduling, reporting, funding, partnerships, administration, and ensure our crews have what they need to be successful in the field.

Each crew has chosen an animal to represent who they are and the work they do.

Can you match the crew to their Guardian?
🐺 Wolf
🦅 Bald Eagle
🦫 Beaver
