The Citxw Nlaka’pamux Assembly will be going into each of our communities to hold community-led discussions on funeral protocols. These workshops are being hosted as a space to listen, learn, and reflect on how our communities support one another during times of loss and grief, and to better understand existing practices.

We recognize that this work is deeply rooted, and that meaningful efforts, teachings, and practices already exist within our communities. This process is not intended to replace that work, but to honour it and build shared understanding.
Participation is entirely voluntary. Community voices, experiences, and perspectives will guide this learning, and there is no expectation to share beyond what feels comfortable or appropriate.
What we hear during these workshops will be respectfully gathered and reflected back in a summary document or guide, which communities can expect to see by June 30, 2026. This document will aim to capture themes, learnings, and recommendations shared, in support of ongoing and future Funeral Support practices.
