Cape Breton Regional Municipality is seeking Mi'kmaq artists for work on a new Mi'kmaq sign project throughout the municipality. The project will work to reclaim the identities of existing communities while presenting art inspired by the Seven Sacred Teachings of the Mi'kmaq people.

Artists of Mi'kmaq heritage and have a strong background in visual arts are welcome to apply. Preference will be given to artists residing within the CBRM inclusive of the communities of Eskasoni and Membertou, thought all Mi’kmaq artists are encouraged to apply.

To Apply:
Please email an Expression of Interest (EOI) to [email protected] by March 28, 2023. In this EOI, please include:
• a history of your experiences as an artist (in CV or narrative format)
• examples of your past visual art (in jpg format, 3-5 pieces)
• your artistic vision of work for this project (not necessarily a visual representation, but the theme, elements, and ideas you wish to implement)

Who is the Mi’kmaw Circle of Hope Society?

Mi’kmaw Circle of Hope Society was founded in 2019 by Heidi Marshall, who saw and felt the need to address the concerns Mi’kmaw people face. Mi’kmaw Circle of Hope Society’s main priority is to deliver programming which focuses on community and culture.
