It is scholarship and bursary season! The Auxiliary would like to remind the public that there are two paths to reception of monetary awards. What follows is a description of both.
Melita and Area Health Auxiliary Bursary is for the consideration of those entering the Human Health Care Field. Requirements are:
-a letter of introduction including personal reasons for entering this field of study
-proposed plans after completion of the program of study
-two letters of reference: one must be from a teacher/or supervisor
-if you have previously applied for a bursary from us for a course that extends greater than one year, please provide us with your most recent transcript or statement of Pass/Fail for continued payment
Course of study - course name, location, length of program, etc.
-Applicants must have been a resident of the Municipality of Two Borders, Town of Melita, R.M. of Brenda-Waskada, R.M. of Pipestone at the time of graduation
Applicants must reapply annually (if course of study is more than 1 year) with updates to program achievements; proof of acceptance into the chosen course of studies will be required.
Successful candidates will receive the approved funding upon acceptance into the second year and then completion of subsequent years of the chosen health related program or at the successful completion of a shorter program.
*Return for Service applicants will have separate requirements and other conditions for consideration than stated above. We will be in communication with those applicants.

Melita and Area Health Care Scholarship
The Auxiliary will award a $1,000 scholarship to one deserving student upon proof or acceptance for their second or current successive year of post-secondary studies OR upon proof of graduation form a shorter course (equal to or less than one year) in some field of human care medicine. Included but not limited to nurse, physician, EMT, optometrist, dentist, x-ray technician, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, lab technician, medical records, etc.
To qualify:
they must live in the Melita Hospital District: which includes the Town of Melita, the R.M. of Two Borders, Townships 3 and 4, Range 25 of Brenda and all the villages and towns within the above areas, including Waskada for the last 5 years as of time of application.
Application should include:
-Name, contact address, email and current phone number
-field of medicine chosen
-reasons for pursuing career
-details of why you should be considered for this scholarship
-details of volunteer work (which is UNPAID and NOT related to any school course for any kind of mark or credit) carried out in a hospital, personal care home or assisted living facility
-Other volunteer community work (same definition f volunteer work as noted above)
Please detail the above requirements on a separate sheet of paper
Attach to Application:
-transcript of most recent year of post-secondary study OR proof of completion/graduation of a one year (or less) study program
-if applicable, proof of acceptance into second (or next) year of current course

Deadline:
Scholarship is posted June 1st at schools in the area stated above and applications close August 15th. Only 1 applicant per year will be awarded the scholarship and it will be decided by committee in the Fall.
