It’s packed with fun, challenging, and rewarding activities where young Canadians explore sea, army, and air aspects of the Canadian Forces.

Here in Melfort, the 171 Phoenix Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron offers hands-on opportunities like aviation technologies, aircrew survival, and even flight training!

This October, we’re spotlighting the incredible local organizations making a difference in North East Saskatchewan. Today’s feature: North East Outreach & Support Services (NEOSS). 💜

Founded in 1984 in Melfort, NEOSS has grown into a vital community-based organization supporting individuals and families affected by domestic and sexualized violence across North East Saskatchewan.

Through programs like the NEOSS Safe Shelter, Treehouse Emergency Receiving Home, and Second Stage Housing, NEOSS provides immediate safety, stability, and long-term support for women, children, and families rebuilding their lives after trauma. The FVI Outreach Team and Family Intervention Rapid Support Team (FIRST) deliver prevention-focused advocacy and healing services — both in-person and virtually — ensuring that even remote communities in the region can access help.

Every service and act of care at NEOSS is grounded in HEART: Healing, Empowerment, Advocacy, Respect, and Transparency.

🎒 OPERATION FILL-A-BACKPACK ✏️ during our Donors Choice Campaign

Since 2015, Partners to End Poverty and The Salvation Army have worked together to help children across Northeast Saskatchewan start the school year ready to learn.

Through the literacy-themed Operation Fill-A-Backpack projects in Melfort, Nipawin, and Tisdale, families facing financial hardship receive new backpacks filled with essential school supplies — giving kids the tools they need to succeed and the confidence to thrive.
