šŸš—šŸ’Ø Tech Night is hitting the road this summer!

And we're stopping in Brooks! šŸ»

We're excited to bring Tech Night to a new community, and what better place to host it than a local brewery? (Honestly, we couldn't think of one either. šŸ˜‰)

If you've been to a Tech Night before, you know the recipe: great people, interesting conversations, innovative ideas, and plenty of opportunities to connect. If you haven't, this is your chance to see what it's all about.

Come hear about exciting things happening across the region, catch up with familiar faces, make some new connections, and maybe even learn something you didn't know before.

Join us for an evening made possible by great regional partners, including Medicine Hat College's Centre for Innovation, APEGA, and Alberta Innovates, bringing people together to share ideas, spark connections, and celebrate innovation.

Brooks, we're looking forward to seeing you!

Expanding beyond Canada sounds exciting… until you actually have to figure out how to do it šŸŒŽ

If you’re an Alberta-based business thinking about new markets, but not sure where to start, you’re not alone. Going global isn’t just about opportunity… it’s about having the right strategy, support, and plan in place šŸ“Š

That’s exactly what this Trade Accelerator Program (TAP) Information Webinar is designed for šŸš€

Raising money for your startup shouldn’t feel like you’re learning a new language mid-conversation 🤯

If you’ve ever walked away from an investor meeting thinking ā€œI wish I knew how to answer that betterā€, you’re not alone. Most founders aren’t short on ideas… they’re just not fluent (yet) in how funding conversations actually work šŸ’¬

That’s exactly what Fundraising for Startups (June 1–4, 7–9 PM MT) is built for šŸš€

This isn’t theory. It’s about getting comfortable with the mechanics—how to talk through deal terms, how to respond with confidence, and how to show up in a way that makes investors take you seriously šŸ“ˆ

The goal? You don’t just pitch, you hold the conversation šŸ¤

And when you can do that, you don’t just raise money… you raise it on better terms šŸ’”

Turns out… the future we’ve been talking about? It’s officially taking off 🚁

When we released our provincial drone report in 2023, we knew drone growth would be a major part of our future. A new report from NAV CANADA confirms that vision, and shows there are even more opportunities ahead for our region than we first imagined.

šŸ’” The economic opportunity is significant:
In 2024, RPAS + advanced air mobility contributed $2.4B–$3.6B to Canada’s GDP and supported 30,000+ jobs
By 2045? That jumps to $69B+ and 290,000 new jobs

Demand is accelerating for talent in data processing, logistics, infrastructure inspection, and remote flight ops

And here’s where it gets interesting…

That kind of growth doesn’t happen without people. It requires a skilled, educated local workforce, which means new opportunities for training, research, and business development right here at home.

And the best part?

Southeast Alberta didn’t just get the memo—we’ve been building this for years.

āž”ļø Home to the Foremost UAS Test Range
āž”ļø Leading work in BVLOS
āž”ļø A growing ecosystem of training, research, and industry
āž”ļø CFB Suffield – 4 counter-drone sandboxes and counting.

So while the rest of Canada is gearing up…

we’re already in it.

The Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security (IDEaS) program’s ā€œSentinel shield: Wide-area detection for early warning against uncrewed aerial systemsā€ challenge is seeking innovative ideas to help spot and track drones, including new designs that don’t rely on GPS or radio signals.

As part of this challenge, IDEaS is piloting Procurement and Operationalization of Innovation and New Technology (POINT), a new acquisition framework to help get innovations into the hands of the Canadian Armed Forces.

If you have a technology that can provide persistent, wide‑area detection and tracking of drones, we want to hear from you!

Learn more about this challenge and apply now. Deadline: June 24, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. (EDT).
