Truth and Reconciliation Day is a day to acknowledge the painful past and the resilience of Indigenous communities. We're all part of this journey towards healing and unity. Let's learn, reflect, and grow together.

Pray for the Indigenous communities in your area, and open your churches for conversation and understanding. Visit the CWD website to equip your leadership team with valuable resources to engage and educate.

We would like to acknowledge that the Nazarene churches of the Canada West District are located on the traditional territories of many of Canada’s First Peoples and the homeland of the Metis Nation.

These territories include the land of Treaties 1 and 2 in Manitoba; Treaties 4 and 6 in Saskatchewan; and Treaties 6, 7, and 8 in Alberta.

We recognize the enduring presence of Indigenous peoples connected to these lands. We are grateful for the opportunity to gather on this territory and work in these communities, and we commit ourselves to the work of reconciliation with First Nations people.

Come join us tonight at our local Medicine Hat Public Library

Tonight we are pleased to present a screening of the film "Siksikakowan: The Blackfoot Man" at 6 p.m. in the Library Theatre.

The documentary was directed filmmaker Sinakson Trevor Solway and filmed in his home community of the Siksika Nation. The National Film Board of Canada says the film "moves between moments of tenderness, resilience, humour and vulnerability, revealing the complex identities men navigate within family, culture, language and community. Through poetic imagery and intimate storytelling, Siksikakowan challenges colonial stereotypes and offers a rare insider perspective on what it means to be an Indigenous man today."

The 94 Calls to Action are recommendations from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to address the harms and ongoing legacy of residential schools and advance reconciliation. They call for concrete changes across Canadian society—including governments, schools, businesses, and churches. As a church, we’re beginning by learning what they say and considering the responsibilities they name for faith communities.

The church connection is explicit in Calls 58–61, which address church apologies, education, clergy training, and support for Indigenous healing and language revitalization.

We invite you to spend time looking through this site.

Overview The Calls to Action are an appeal to mobilize all levels of government, organizations, as well as individuals to make concrete changes in society. They list specific actions to redress the legacy of residential schools and advance the process of Canadian reconciliation. The Calls to Action....

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and , observed alongside Orange Shirt Day. National Indigenous Peoples Day is June 21. September 30 honours Survivors of residential schools, the children who never came home, and their families and communities.

The church’s role is not to make itself the hero of reconciliation. It is to tell the truth, listen with humility, and let love move us toward justice.

We can wear orange this week and ask: What will we remember? Whose voices will we listen to? What is one thing we can change because we have heard the truth?

May God give us the courage to listen, the humility to learn, and the love to keep taking the next faithful step.

We’re back around the table this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. ❤️

We haven’t gathered on Sunday mornings throughout August—but God didn’t take the month off.

God has been present in driveways, on decks, at people’s doors, and in all the ordinary ways neighbours have noticed and cared for one another. This Sunday, we’ll slow down, reconnect, and share some of the stories God has already been growing among us. That already counts!

No new list of things to do. No ministries to sign up for another year. No pressure to add more to an already full schedule. Just an invitation to come, take a seat, and notice where grace has been at work.

Church can look like a table.
Everyone has a seat.
