Yellowhead Ski Club has some great news to share!

We were successful in our application for a Recreation Infrastructure Grant from Northern Development Initiative Trust! Thanks to Kat McNaughton for all of her hard work!

With this grant and lots of local support we will finally be able to replace the old A-Frame warm-up hut on Belle Mountain. The A-Frame was a well-loved, well-used building that was once McBride’s Village Tourist Information booth. It is over 50 years old, no longer safe and in need of major repairs.

The new warm-up hut will provide a safe and welcoming space for families, school groups, local skiers, and out of town visitors to warm up and socialize after their ski outings. It will be a wonderful place to meet for games, races, hot chocolate, and outdoor fun.

Thanks to Dale Stephens for donating his time and talent in designing the warmup hut.

Thank you to the Dunster Community Forest, McBride Community Forest, Emil Anderson, and the Regional District of Fraser Fort George for their generous grants and donations.

Thanks to Rec Sites and Trails BC for their partnership, and Back Country Horsemen (Robson Valley Chapter) for their collaboration on this trail system.

Finally, a big thank you to ski club volunteers for all of their hard work to keep this beautiful area open and available for all.

The Belle Road is not recommended unless you have high clearance and 4 wheel drive. The ruts are very deep. Temperature is supposed to be very warm today as well.

Due to equipment issues, warmer temperatures, and predicted rain, we have decided that grooming is over for the season. Thank you everyone for your support, help, and patience! It was appreciated during this very bumpy season!

The temperature is 7C, and the Belle road is rutted, wet, and very slimy. Lots of sledders here this weekend so be aware of extra traffic if you choose to head up.

Thanks to Eileen and Carolyn for today's trail report:

There hadn't been anyone on the 10km upper section since the snowfalls two weeks ago so we had two enjoyable days, yesterday and today. We skied the 10km trail both days. It is now ski tracked. The snow is not sticky at all, but is wet enough that it is not very fast even on the downhills.

Eileen's report : "We skied the 8 km yesterday from the kids loop in, so now it is ski tracked. There is about 7 “ of fresh snow but it is light and fluffy so not too bad going. It was like floating on the downhills. The only part that was a slog was the hill trail out of Moose meadow back to the pine lake turnoff as two sleds had chewed up that section."
