🦆 End of Season Banquet – 2025/2026 🦆

Tonight marked our final goodbye to an unforgettable 2025–2026 season for our Matheson Mallards… and what an amazing send-off it was. 💚

We kicked off the evening celebrating our U8 Mallards — a group that showed incredible growth, and determination all season long. Many of these young players will be spreading their wings and moving up to U11 next year, and it has truly been a pleasure watching them grow, and fall in love with the game.

We then brought together our U13 and U15 teams for a combined banquet — and it couldn’t have been more fitting. It was a night filled with laughter, stories, and genuine connection. Our U13 players are ready to take the next step up to U15, and our U15 players will be moving on to U18 next season — a big milestone for both groups. For our U15 players especially, it was a chance to truly feel the closeness and pride of the Matheson hockey community — something that makes our association so special.

From the first skate of the season to tonight’s final goodbye, this year was built on teamwork, resilience, and heart. The memories made — on and off the ice — will last far beyond this season.

To our players, coaches, volunteers, and families… thank you for being part of something so special.

Once a Mallard, always a Mallard. 🦆💚
Quack! Quack!

🎙️U13 Mallards: Players vs Parents — A Showdown to Remember 🏒

To close out the season in true Mallards fashion, the U13 squad hit the ice for one final, unforgettable battle — Players vs Parents! And what a way to send off the year.

With the clock winding down on the last week of ice, the challenge was set… and answered in full force. Parents, siblings — even grandparents — laced up and joined the action, turning it into a full family showdown at the home barn.

And yes… they came to play.

M. Lamarche montrait à ses petits-enfants qu’il avait encore tout le talent nécessaire pour enfiler ses patins et leur donner une petite leçon — tout un spectacle! (A little reminder that the old guard still has some serious skill left in the tank!)

From end to end, this one had it all — laughs, hustle, and some great tunes. The scoreboard told the story of a tight battle, sitting at 7–6 for the parents late in the third, until the Mallards dug deep. With only minutes left, the kids fired one past the monstrous goalie to tie it up 7–7!

The parents called for a shootout… but the Mallards?
They wanted more hockey.

5-minute OT. Let’s go.

And they delivered.

With under 2 minutes left in overtime, the Mallards buried the winner — sealing the game and sending the crowd into a final QUACK!

They left the ice one last time this season the same way they played all year:
with energy, and unstoppable team spirit.

The night wrapped up with a year-end celebration, generously sponsored by 1551 Construction, bringing everyone together one last time before saying goodbye to the dressing rooms until next season.

Goodbye 2025 - 2026 Season 👋🏻

Until next season, always remember…
Mallards fly together 🦆

As the final buzzer sounds on the 2025–2026 season, it’s hard to put into words what this year has meant to all of us.

This wasn’t just a season… this was a comeback.
A rebuild.
A belief that something special could live again in our community.

From nothing… to something we can all be proud of.

To our parents—thank you for trusting us, for believing in this vision, and for taking a chance on something that didn’t even exist not long ago. You stood behind us, supported your kids, and helped build this league from the ground up. This is your success too.

To our coaches and bench staff—there are no words big enough. The time, the energy, the heart you poured into these kids… it shows. Every early morning, every late night, every mile travelled—you weren’t just building hockey players, you were building confidence, character, and a love for the game that will last a lifetime.

And to our Mallards big & small-

You are the reason.

We watched you grow.
We watched you battle.
We watched you become teammates, leaders, and a family.

You showed up, you worked hard, you represented Black River-Matheson with pride, grit, and class—and you gave this community something to cheer for again.

That’s something no scoreboard can measure.

This season may be coming to an end… but this is only the beginning.

Because now the Mallards are back.
And the league hasn’t seen anything yet.

We may miss the sound of those quacks echoing through the Vern Miller… but make no mistake—the work is just getting started.

The future of the Mallards is bright, it’s loud, and it’s coming.

We can’t wait to celebrate all of you this Saturday at our year-end banquet—you’ve earned every second of it.

2026–2027… we’re coming. 💪🦆

🏆 U15 Matheson Mallards – TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS GOLD MEDAL GAME RECAP 🏆

The stage was set. The final battle. One last game together for this group… and the U15 Matheson Mallards made sure it was one to remember.

Facing off against the Schumacher Bears in the Championship Game, the Mallards came out flying with purpose, heart, and something a little extra — knowing this was their final game of the season.

The Bears struck first early, but that was all the spark the Mallards needed.

Just seconds later, #5 Logan Lamarche answered right back, setting the tone and reminding everyone that this team does not back down. From there, it was all Mallards momentum.

#77 Colson Palaszewski took over in true dominant fashion, finding the back of the net again… and again… and again — an unstoppable performance when it mattered most.
#19 Jack Larochelle added to the attack with a beauty, while continuing to set the pace offensively.
#44 Joseph Charron buried one of his own, stepping up in a big moment.

The puck movement was unreal. The chemistry? Unmatched.
Connections from David Cook, Kyle Linklater, and even an assist from Sylas Pepper showed just how deep this team runs.

By the third period, the Mallards weren’t just playing hockey — they were putting on a statement.

Another from Palaszewski.
Another from Larochelle.
Every shift, every battle, every play — they left it all on the ice.

Final score: 10-3 Mallards. GOLD MEDAL SECURED. 🥇

But this game was about more than the score.

This team — small but mighty all season — built something special.
A group that battled through every challenge, leaned on each other, and grew into something unstoppable.
The bond, the grit, the commitment… it showed in every single shift this weekend.

And in their final game together — they played for each other.

To the players: you didn’t just win a championship… you earned it.
To the coaches and families: this group is something to be proud of.
To Mallard Nation: THIS is what it’s all about.

From the first puck drop of the season… to the final buzzer…
the U15 Matheson Mallards are your TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS GOLD MEDAL WINNERS. 🏆🦆

One last run.
And they made it unforgettable. đź’š

Congratulations to the Schumacher Bears on the silver, always a pleasure playing you guys! Till next season!
