Black River-Matheson Fire Department is fortunate to receive a donation from GlobalMedic. The Fire Department received a water tank, pump and fire hose from GlobalMedic to help fight wildland fires. This is a great addition to our fleet.

2 great groups from Early ons and JHK joined us at the fire hall this morning. Toured the hall, climbed in the trucks and were given some “ Fire Education homework” where is your smoke alarm in your house, is it functional and what is your escape/meeting plan in the event of a fire. 3 great things to do with your family that can be over looked.

We attended the annual seniors day hosted by Black River Matheson Township. We had some great Fire Prevention swag for the seniors as well as a Fire Extinguisher simulator for the seniors to get hands on experience at putting out a fire. Congratulations to Carole Shannon for participating and winning our gift basket.

Day 2 is a wrap, cooler temperatures made it easier on the firefighters for cool down in between sessions. We again would like to Thank the office of the fire Marshall for allowing us to experience the mobile live burning training unit, although a smaller department we appreciate the opportunity and we hope to enjoy this again next year.

Day 1 of 2. The BRM fire dept were fortunate to be selected by the Office of the fire Marshall to have the mobile live fire training unit available to them. This unit travels the province to help train and educate firefighters of all levels.

It was not ideal weather for training, +29 degrees, humid and no wind but the volunteers pushed forward, stuck to the plan and took this great opportunity to experience live fire conditions. Some firefighters experienced a live fire for the first time. Safe and controlled environment is key to proper training. The firefighters will train again on Saturday!
