This Holiday Season is upon us again. And, with the season comes the extra generosity of our community members who choose to give a little more. The Volunteers of the Matheson Food Bank would like to extend warmest wishes for the Healthy and Safe Holiday Season for all the clients who have accessed our services throughout the year as well as community members of Black River Matheson. We are very thankful that we can say that our communities contribute to the wellbeing of others year round, and not just at the holidays.
We would like to make a shout out to some folks who came out to drop donations off.
We also would like to extend a very sincere appreciation to St.Andrews United Church for the ongoing use of their building. The generosity of using the space allows us to pour more funds into the homes of those who need it!

Here is a sad but essential fact for all of us to consider when thinking about our food banks.

In November 2024, Campaign 2000 reported that 550,080 children under 18 in Ontario were living in poverty, representing nearly one in five children. This is a significant increase, as child poverty in the province doubled to 12% in 2023 from a low of 5.6% in 2020.

With the arrival of the cooler temperatures, comes the new school year for our young community members.
Please keep this in mind when planning your donations!
Lunch snacks are an important part of what our families will be needing as we move into the school season.
Again, the volunteers of the Matheson Food Bank thank each and every one of you for the donations that keep the shelves full.
