We are excited to welcome a beautiful new exhibition to the Stl'laay Daw Naay Welcome House at the Haida Heritage Centre at Ḵay Llnagaay -Opening September 12, 2026
Local artists Alyson Bell and Elim Slycome together in a collaboration where formline and photography meet to create a unique visual and captivating expression.

We are always honoured to provide space for local photographers and artists to share their work, perspectives, and creativity with our community and the people who visit Haida Gwaii. The Welcome House continues to be a place for gathering, sharing, storytelling, and experiencing the incredible work being created here.

Please join us for the exhibition opening this fall and take some time to experience the collaboration for yourself.

The exhibition will remain on display through December 2.

"June is always a beautiful month to visit Tllaal. The longer days and mix of rain, mist and sun means the agates sparkle a little extra and family fun times stretch out that little bit more. In June 2025, my mom, son and I stayed in one of the new cabins at the Haida House at Tllaal. My mom’s birthday was coming up and my son just finished his school year so it was an ideal time for a relaxing, mid-island getaway for two nights. We soaked in the hot tub, played Uno, made a DIY charcuterie board one night for dinner and feasted on the delicious Sunday brunch with some friends from Massett on our last day there. I went on some languid beach walks while my mom and son played cards. My son even had a local Tllaal friend visit him for a soak in the hot tub while the rain softly sprinkled the hemlock and spruce in front of our temporary abode. Our stay was really the best of Haida Gwaii - connecting with family and friends, playing games inside and exploring the outdoors in a meandering way. We are so grateful for the Haida Gwaii Staycation grant and the beautiful stay it enabled - three generations of my little family in one cozy spot." - Miranda Post, 2025 Staycation grant recipient.

Planning a local getaway? The Staycation Grant can help make it happen! Eligible Haida Gwaii residents can receive up to $250 per person, per year to spend with a locally owned Haida Gwaii business.

✅ Apply at least one full business day before your trip begins
✅ Use your grant to support local businesses while exploring our islands
❌ Applications are not accepted for staycations that have already taken place
❌ Staycation grants cannot be combined with work-related travel or other Gwaii Trust grant funding

If your organization is creating educational or recreational opportunities for youth on Haida Gwaii, you could qualify for up to $10,000 in funding through the Youth Grant program.
