September is Su***de Prevention Month - a time to remind each other that you are not alone, your life matters, and there is always hope.

At GSH, we recognize that women and children experiencing violence, trauma, isolation, and major life changes may carry overwhelming emotional pain. Sometimes simply having someone listen without judgement can make a difference. You don't have to have all of the answers, being there is the first step towards hope.

Check in on someone. Listen with judgement. Let the them know they are not alone and they are valued and supported. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 911. In Canada, you can also call or text 988 for for su***de crisis support 24 hours a day. One conversation can make a difference.

Did You Know: Day 23

Evidence-based research recommends addressing FASD prevention at 4 levels: a) broad awareness, b) dialogue on alcohol and related risks with all people of childbearing age, c) specialized support for pregnant people drinking alcohol, and d) support for new parents.

Today is International Overdose Awareness Day.

We remember the lives lost to overdose as we support families, friends and communities affected by grief.

By learning the signs of overdose, knowing how to respond, and checking in on one another, we can help save lives. Together, we can raise awareness, reduce stigma, and help build safer, more supportive communities for all of us.
