Canada One Family Network Concludes 4th Annual World Music Festival

The 4th Annual World Music Festival, hosted by Canada One Family Network, took place from August 22 to 24, 2025 at Bridlewood Mall Central Stage (2900 Warden Ave). The three-day event, funded by Heritage Canada with support from United Fencing Center / Axis Fencing Club, featured a wide range of performances that reflected both traditional and contemporary musical traditions.
The festival opened on Friday evening with a flute solo by Richmond Hill City Councillor Simon Cui and a guqin solo by Yanyan Zhu, followed by modern pop songs from Corsh Music.
On Saturday, the stage blended youth and seasoned artistry. The MK Singing School presented a lively dance, followed by a liuqin solo by Sherry. A major highlight was the p**a solo by Lilian Yang, renowned performer and educator, whose refined technique and expressive style have graced leading venues in Beijing and Canada. The One Family Network Taiji Culture Training Center, led by national-level coach Huilan Chen, brought discipline and elegance through a Taiji demonstration. The day concluded with classic Chinese pop songs by Steve Sum and a duet with Peon Ho.

On Sunday, the program featured Ode to the Plum Blossom, a Peking Opera vocal and dance piece by Lianlian Opera, followed by an original Canadian country music performance by Wayne Madder, award-winning singer-songwriter known for his blend of blues, folk, and country. The festival closed with an evocative erhu solo by Mike Zhou.
The World Music Festival is a key initiative of Canada One Family Network, created to promote cultural exchange and encourage public appreciation of diverse musical traditions. It also serves as a platform for local artists to share their talents and engage with the community. Now in its fourth year, the festival has grown into a signature summer event in the Scarborough–Markham area. Canada One Family Network will continue to build on this legacy and welcome even greater community participation in the years to come.
