The Toronto Cathay Lions Club is a part of Lions Clubs International, a network of volunteers who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world. ght Life Members: Bill Cheung, Kai-Ming Kan, Jackie Lai, James Lee, Raymond Lee, Matthew Lyn, Diamond Tam, Kit Wong. Since its inception in 1975, The Toronto Cathay Lions Club has worked hard in fulfilling its commitment of serving our community. We have initiated fundraising activities for various organizations such as nursing homes, hospitals, universities, Chinese Schools, Chinese Cultural Centre, medical research, Royal Ontario Museum, the Metropolitan Toronto Police Force, Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association and as far away as the schools in China, and needy people in Haiti, Thailand and Japan. We provide Scholarships to University of Toronto and York University. Since year 2000 our cumulative contributions to SickKids Foundation exceeded $170,000.00. We also actively participate in and support similar charitable functions organized by other community groups. Recently, we are the Gold Sponsor for Planting a Tree Event at Richmond Green organized by the Chinese Family Services of Ontario and we have sponsored the School Battery Retrieval Program focuses on educating and promoting awareness of a clean and sustainable future for our next generation.
