🌈 It’s !

A time to celebrate people feeling free to be their authentic selves - and that includes in the skies.

At the Northern Lights Aero Foundation, we believe aviation is strongest when everyone feels seen, valued, safe, and empowered to bring their whole selves to the industry.

We’re proud to support a future where the next generation of aviation and aerospace professionals knows there is a place for them, exactly as they are.

from all of us at the Northern Lights Aero Foundation.

International Flight Attendant Day is a reminder that so much of aviation depends on people who do far more than most passengers ever get to see.

Flight attendants are the steady presence in a constantly moving environment - managing safety, emotions, and keeping hundreds of individual journeys on track.

At the Northern Lights Aero Foundation, we hear how often flight attendants are also the first point of inspiration for future aviators.

From all of us, thank you for the work you do, and for the example you set for future aviators everywhere.

✈️🔧 This Aviation Maintenance Technician Day, we’re proud to spotlight Abbey May-Richards, recipient of the 2026 Aurora Scholarship.

Jointly funded by Northern Lights Aero Foundation and Elevate Aviation, the Aurora Scholarship supports Canadian women pursuing careers as Aircraft Maintenance Engineers — helping create more opportunities in an industry where women remain underrepresented.

A fourth-year AME apprentice at the Victoria Flying Club, Abbey is already paying it forward by mentoring and training other female apprentices while building her own career in aviation maintenance.

Congratulations, Abbey — we can’t wait to see where your journey takes you.

To the women who navigate the skies and the even more complex journey of motherhood—Happy Mother’s Day! ✈️💙

The Northern Lights Aero Foundation celebrates the incredible mothers in our aviation and aerospace community. Whether you are in the cockpit, at the hangar, or in the boardroom, you prove every day that the sky isn’t a limit.

To the moms who teach us to dream big, fly high, and always keep a steady heading: thank you for being the ultimate flight leads. Your strength, resilience, and passion inspire the next generation of aviators to spread their wings.

Wishing all our mentors, pioneers, and mothers a day filled with blue skies and tailwinds! 🌬️☁️

We’re honoured to announce this year’s recipients of the Captain Christina Thomson ALPA Scholarship.

Created in memory of Captain Christina Thomson—a WestJet pilot, union advocate, and respected leader—this scholarship supports women in flight training who reflect her resilience, compassion, and strength.

Made possible through the generous contributions of the Thomson family and the community, with support from ALPA and NLAF, this scholarship reflects a shared commitment to carrying Christina’s legacy forward.

⭐ Katrina Augustyn – Spruce Grove, AB
⭐ Meg Beuttenmiller – Bayfield, ON
⭐ Emily Luong – Oshawa, ON

Each of these women embodies the qualities that defined Christina’s impact, helping shape a stronger, more inclusive future for aviation. We look forward to honouring them at the Elsie McGill Awards on October 3, 2026.
