The Mother and the Bear is a Canadian–Chilean co-production directed by Canadian filmmaker Johnny Ma. The film follows Sara, an overbearing mother who flies from Seoul to Winnipeg when her estranged daughter Sumi is left comatose after an accident. While waiting for Sumi to wake up, Sara begins discovering details of her own daughter's life in Winnipeg she knew nothing about. Hoping to mend their strained relationship, Sara meddles with Sumi’s dating app, which sets off a series of unexpected events that leads her on a journey of discovery and connection. The film had it's world premiere at TIFF 2024.

Come join us on Tuesday March 31st at The Flato Markham Theatre for The Mother and the Bear
