In 1960, following a history of helping kids find refuge amidst strife and support through child sponsorship, Dr. Verent Mills and Dr. J. Calvitt Clarke helped create Christian Children's Fund of Canada. Since we began 60 years ago, our mission remains centred on helping children of all faiths, cultures and ethnicities overcome poverty and injustice, inspired by Christ's love and compassion. In 2019, we became Children Believe to make every child and person feel welcome and inspired to join our cause. Meet Rukaya, a 16 year old from Northern Ghana who dreams of becoming a nurse. 🩺

Last year, while she was still in Primary 6, her parents began arranging her marriage.

This is what child marriage looks like. A girl pulled out of school, handed a marriage she never chose. It happens all the time, often in families who think they're doing what's best.

There is no doctor or hospital in Nikithavi's village when someone gets sick, the nearest hospital is 5 kilometres away.

That's part of what drives her dream.

At just 11 years old, Nikithavi is already a leader in her community! As a member of her village's Bala Panchayat (children's council), she helped bring government street lighting to her neighbourhood. Through her sponsorship program, she's learning about health, hygiene, and the world around her, all while working toward her goal of becoming the doctor her village needs. 👩‍⚕️✨

"I believe in working hard, and I pray that I will have a bright future so I can make my parents happy... I want to study hard and reach my goals, and show that girls can achieve anything if given the chance."

This week is , and we're celebrating a village that's changing what's possible for girls. 🎓

Geetha's sisters were married before they could finish school. Geetha just completed her degree. In Mosalamadugu, a remote village in southern India, 234 families came together to end child marriage. Their message to every girl is simple: education comes first.

This year's theme, "Standing with Teachers," is a reminder that celebrating educators isn't enough, they need real support too. Fair conditions, recognition, and the resources to do their jobs well.

In the communities we serve, teachers show up every day for their students... often without enough of what they need to fully do so. Today, we stand with them, and we celebrate the incredible difference they make in children's lives. 💜

Today, September 30, is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day in Canada.🧡

This day honours First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Survivors, their families, and communities, and remembers the children who never returned home from residential schools.

"Every Child Matters" is more than a phrase, it's a reminder of the responsibility we all carry to protect children, honour their stories, and work toward a future where every child is safe, valued, and heard.

Today, we wear orange, we listen, and we reflect.

Meet Samuel from Paraguay! He's 13, and he already knows exactly where he's headed…up! ✈️ He's caught the engineering bug from working alongside his dad, and now he's set his sights on planes, sketching out a future as an aeronautical engineer.

On the ground, he's just as focused, he picked up the violin 🎻 recently and hasn't put it down since. "I'm learning a lot, and I want to learn more!"

And it's not just his own future he's thinking about. Samuel dreams of a community where people are free from addiction, proof that even at 13, he's already looking out for the people around him.

Keep dreaming big, Samuel! 💜
