後世稱這段故事為**「秉燭達旦」**。

無論故事細節是否經過文學演繹，它流傳千百年，所傳達的精神始終如一——

真正的君子，不因無人監督而放縱自己；真正的品格，是在誘惑面前依然守住分寸。

曹操十分欣賞關羽，不但以厚禮相待，還封官賜爵，希望能將他留在身邊。

然而，當關羽得知劉備仍然在世後，沒有絲毫猶豫。他立即掛印封金，帶著兩位嫂嫂踏上尋兄之路。

一路上，因為沒有曹操的正式通關文書，各地守將不肯放行，甚至出兵攔截。為了保護兩位嫂嫂，關羽不得不一路闖關，最終過五關，斬六將，歷經千辛萬苦，終於與劉備重逢。

關羽鎮守荊州時，曹操派名將于禁率領七軍前來攻打。

當時正值秋雨連綿，漢水暴漲。關羽沒有選擇硬碰硬，而是順應天時，趁著洪水暴漲之際，命人掘堤放水。一夜之間，洪水淹沒七軍，于禁被迫投降，龐德被擒。

這就是歷史上著名的**「水淹七軍」**。

這場戰役讓關羽威震華夏，也讓世人看見，真正的將領不只是勇猛，更懂得審時度勢、善用時機。

人生也是如此。

努力固然重要，但懂得等待時機、善於判斷形勢，往往比一味衝刺更能成就大事。

📖 One-Minute Guan Gong Story | Flooding the Seven Armies

While defending Jing Province, Guan Gong faced an invasion led by the famous Wei general Yu Jin and his seven armies.

Heavy autumn rains caused the Han River to overflow. Rather than launching a direct attack, Guan Gong seized the opportunity. He ordered the riverbanks opened, allowing the floodwaters to overwhelm the enemy camps.

The result was decisive—Yu Jin surrendered, Pang De was captured, and the victory became one of the most celebrated battles in Chinese history: "Flooding the Seven Armies."

This victory showed that true leadership is not only about courage, but also about wisdom, patience, and knowing when to act.

In our own lives, success often comes not from rushing forward, but from recognizing the right opportunity and making the best decision at the right time.

Guan Gong reminds us that courage without wisdom is reckless, but courage guided by wisdom can achieve extraordinary things.

農曆六月初六，是民間敬拜虎爺公的重要日子。

虎爺公是神明座前的護法神獸，象徵著忠勇、威嚴、正氣與守護。祂守護廟宇、護佑信眾，也提醒我們常懷正念、行事光明磊落。

敬拜虎爺，祈求的不只是福運，更是一份對家庭、事業與人生的平安祝願。

🐯 Honoring Tiger General on the Sixth Day of the Sixth Lunar Month

The 6th day of the 6th lunar month is a special occasion for many devotees to pay tribute to Tiger General (Hu Ye), the faithful guardian who serves beside the deities in traditional Chinese temples.

Tiger General symbolizes courage, righteousness, protection, and integrity. For generations, people have prayed for peace, good health, safe travels, prosperous careers, and the well-being of their families and children under his watchful care.

This day is not only about seeking blessings, but also a reminder to live with honesty, kindness, and respect—walking the path of righteousness in our daily lives.

土山約三事——真正的忠義，是任何時候都不忘自己的原則

建安五年，劉備兵敗，關羽被曹操大軍圍困於土山。

當時，關羽身邊還有劉備的兩位夫人。面對重重包圍，他既不能輕易投降，也不能不顧兩位嫂夫人的安危。

在進退兩難之際，關羽提出了三個條件：

⚔️ 第一，只降漢朝，不降曹操。

⚔️ 第二，必須善待並保護劉備的兩位夫人。

⚔️ 第三，一旦得知劉備的下落，無論千里萬里，都要立即離開，前往追隨。

曹操接受了這三個條件，關羽才暫時留在曹營。

後來，曹操給予關羽高官厚祿、金銀財寶，希望能讓他留下。

但關羽始終沒有忘記自己的承諾。

當他得知劉備的消息後，便掛印封金，離開曹營，踏上尋找兄長的道路。

這就是著名的 「土山約三事」。

這個故事告訴我們：

人生有時會遇到不得不妥協的處境，但妥協不代表放棄原則。

真正有信念的人，知道什麼可以退讓，也知道什麼永遠不能交換。

# # # **The Three Conditions at Tushan — True Loyalty Means Never Abandoning Your Principles**

In the fifth year of Jian’an, Liu Bei was defeated in battle, and Guan Yu found himself surrounded by Cao Cao’s forces at Tushan.

At the time, Guan Yu was responsible for protecting Liu Bei’s two wives. Faced with overwhelming forces, he could neither surrender without conditions nor ignore his responsibility to keep them safe.

In this difficult situation, Guan Yu proposed three conditions:

⚔️ **First, he would submit to the Han Dynasty, not personally to Cao Cao.**

⚔️ **Second, Liu Bei’s two wives must be treated with respect and protected.**

⚔️ **Third, once he learned of Liu Bei’s whereabouts, he must be free to leave immediately and reunite with him, no matter how far away he might be.**

Only after Cao Cao accepted these conditions did Guan Yu temporarily remain in Cao Cao’s camp.

Later, Cao Cao offered Guan Yu official titles, wealth, gold, and generous rewards, hoping to persuade him to stay.

But Guan Yu never forgot his promise.

As soon as he learned where Liu Bei was, he returned the official seal, left the rewards behind, and departed to search for his sworn brother.

This became known as the story of **“The Three Conditions at Tushan.”**

The story reminds us that life sometimes places us in situations where compromise is necessary.

But compromise does not mean abandoning our principles.

A person of true character knows what can be negotiated—and what should never be exchanged for comfort, wealth, or personal gain.

Guan Gong reminds us to:

⚔️ Hold on to our principles during difficult times.
⚔️ Keep our promises even when faced with temptation.
⚔️ Take responsibility for those we have promised to protect.
⚔️ Never forget our values, no matter how circumstances change.

**Circumstances may change where we stand, but they should never change who we are.**

三國時期，孫權一方為討回荊州，邀請關羽前往赴宴商談。
關羽明知這場宴會暗藏危機，身邊眾人也勸他不要前往。然而，關羽並沒有因為危險而退縮。他只帶少數隨從，乘船赴會，手持青龍偃月刀，從容面對早已布下重兵的宴席。席間，面對對方的質問與壓力，關羽毫不畏懼，沉著應對。
最終，他憑藉膽識與威嚴，全身而退。
後人將這段故事稱為 **「單刀赴會」**。
關公的勇，不是衝動，也不是逞強。真正的勇氣，是清楚知道前方有風險，依然能保持冷靜，承擔自己的責任。人生中，我們也會遇到不得不面對的困難。有些問題不能逃避，有些責任必須承擔，有些道路即使艱難，也需要自己走過。

During the Three Kingdoms period, Sun Quan’s side invited Guan Yu to a banquet to negotiate over the territory of Jing Province.

Guan Yu knew that the meeting could be dangerous, and those around him advised him not to go.

Yet he did not retreat because of the risks ahead.

Accompanied by only a small number of followers, Guan Yu crossed the river to attend the meeting, carrying his Green Dragon Crescent Blade and calmly facing an uncertain situation.

During the negotiations, Guan Yu remained composed under pressure. He neither showed fear nor abandoned his principles.

In the end, through his courage, confidence, and commanding presence, he returned safely.

This legendary story became known as **“Attending the Banquet Alone” (單刀赴會).**

Guan Gong’s courage was not recklessness, nor was it a desire to prove his strength.

**True courage means understanding the risks ahead while still having the strength to remain calm, uphold your principles, and take responsibility.**

In life, we all face challenges that cannot be avoided.

Some problems must be confronted. Some responsibilities must be carried. And some difficult roads must be walked with courage.

Guan Gong reminds us to:

相傳關公在征戰時，右臂中了毒箭。毒已深入骨骼，名醫華佗建議必須刮去骨上的毒素，才能保住手臂。治療時，沒有麻醉，也沒有止痛藥。然而，關公神色自若，一邊與將士飲酒談笑，一邊接受治療，絲毫不改英雄本色。

One of the most well-known stories about Guan Gong is **"Scraping the Bone to Remove Poison."**

During a military campaign, Guan Gong was struck by a poisoned arrow. The poison had reached the bone, and the famous physician Hua Tuo recommended scraping away the infected bone to save his arm.

Without anesthesia or pain relief, Guan Gong remained calm throughout the procedure. He continued drinking tea and talking with his companions as if nothing had happened.

This story is remembered not only because of his physical endurance, but because it reflects extraordinary courage, discipline, and inner strength.
