Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day. June 21 is a day to honour First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples and recognize the histories, cultures, languages and contributions that continue to shape communities across Canada.
This day is close to Taproot’s work and relationships. Many of the people we serve, work alongside and learn from are Indigenous. Their knowledge, experiences and leadership matter to who we are and how we show up.
National Indigenous Peoples Day also belongs within the ongoing work of truth and reconciliation. It calls us to keep listening, learning and building relationships with humility and respect.
Today, we honour Indigenous Peoples across Turtle Island and the strength carried through family, land, language, culture and community.
