Hello everyone
Phase 1 completed.
Phase 2 ongoing.
We have reached our Quota of Walleye eggs this year. The MNR trap net has now been removed and is ready to be returned to Parry Sound. This year we have also invested a Scientific Study for locating Walleye spawning beds for Lake Cecebe.
We concluded that study and look forward to sharing the results with the MNR.
The mobile hatchery is now in production mode for the next 15 -18 days and will be monitored closely. A big thank you to Mike, Murray and Charles for getting our apex computer and monitoring systems back on line so we can monitor via our cell phones once again.
We will be at the hatchery every day to record data and clean as necessary every day until we need to move the fry.
We are open to public viewing daily every morning and longer on week ends. Come see how they start out.

Our 2026 Hatchery Season Netting will be closing today. We will have our quota of fertilized eggs later today if all goes well. A great big THANK YOU to our new volunteers this year who have dedicated their time with us. Hats off to our members who continue to teach and explain to the many questions for our interested public. Pictures of this year will arrive here once I learn a little more about how to do it, (Grandkids to teach me)
Our eggs will be in our trailer for 15 - 18 days and we will be onsite every morning till hatch. Once they hatch they will be proceeding to our Ministry Licensed Locations. Thank you one and all for supporting our efforts, stay tuned.

The Walleye are Coming Soon

Come join us tomorrow morning @ 9:00 am, as we prepare for our 2026 year hatch. The Walleye will be arriving soon.

The water levels have dropped to allow us to set up and the water temps have started to rise so that makes for us to prepare for our hatchery year.

2026 Hatchery Update
We currently have high water levels everywhere which we will have to wait for the levels to subside.
The Good news is that Emsdale South Magnetawan River and North Magnetawan, near Burks Falls show that the water levels have crested and have dropped overnight.
The ice is still on our lakes, Cecebe and Ahmic & should be off soon, allowing the water to warm up. Once the water temp gets close to 6 deg. C we will be monitoring for the walleye run to begin. Hopefully we will be set up in place by the docks, best guess around April 29. Anyone wishing to volunteer is welcome to come and join us.

Water levels can be found on Government of Canada page
"Real time Hydrometric Data Search Results."
or google it by

02EA017 is for Ahmic Lake

2026 year is coming soon, volunteers are always welcome, watch for the trailer arriving at the docks in Magnetawan by the LCBO.
Mother Nature has delayed us this year for setup. Once the water resides we will be setting up and monitoring the arrival of the Walleye to our Hatchery Trailer.
Good News, while monitoring the Government Real Time water levels the charts show decreasing levels in the Emsdale South Magnetawan River area and North Magnetawan River sites. These feed Cecebe and Ahmic Lakes.

Search to find, Real Time Hydrometric Data Search Results Government of Canada.
search:
02EA018 is Emsdale
02EA016 is Katrine
02EA015 is Cecebe at Magnetawan
02EA017 is Ahmic Lake
Stay tuned for more updates as we close in on our arrival to the Hatchery Site.

“We hatch’em, you catch’em” – public fish for public waters in Ontario.

The Community Hatchery Program spring workshop series stopped in Haliburton last week, where program coordinator Matt Burley met with hatchery volunteers to discuss volunteer recruitment and retention planning. Representatives from two lake trout hatcheries, and one walleye hatchery participated in the full day workshop delivered by OFAH Membership in partnership with LURA Consulting.

Thank you to the Haliburton Highlands Outdoors Association for hosting the workshop, and for all the volunteer from the North Hastings Community Fish Hatchery and Almaguin Community Hatchery Program for traveling to join our community of practice.
