We’re following up on last month’s Rotary Club of Pender Harbour NEXUS 50/50 draw. The May draw raised $1,425, with $712.50 contributed toward our $2,555 fundraising goal. Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets and supported the Health Centre.

There’s still time to help us reach our goal. The Rotary Club of Pender Harbour is continuing its support through the June NEXUS 50/50 draw to help fund a new AED. Pender Harbour Health Centre, along with our Board of Directors, staff, and patients, extends heartfelt thanks to the Rotary Club for its continued support this month.

Pender Harbour Health Centre and the Pender Harbour Better at Home Program are pleased to announce the relaunch of the Pender Harbour Seniors Link bus service this June. Service will resume on Tuesday, June 2nd, with new members joining the Better at Home team.

We are pleased to introduce Karla and Carolyn (pictured below, left to right) as our new Better at Home transportation drivers. We are excited to welcome them to the team and look forward to seniors meeting them while using the Seniors Link service.

We would also like to thank Brian, our previous Seniors Link driver, who recently left the community. Brian brought professionalism, compassion, and dedication to the role, and we sincerely appreciate his contributions to the successful launch of the Seniors Link service. In 2025, the service provided more than 1,300 rides to seniors in our community. We thank United Way BC for their continued funding support for this program.

Please note that there are a few minor changes to the Seniors Link schedule. The updated schedule is attached. The main changes are:

• The Lily Lake Village stop is now located outside Campbell House.
• The Trail and Cowrie stop has moved to the Sunshine Coast Resource Centre on Cowrie Street.

The Pender Harbour Health Centre is excited to be participating in the upcoming Aging in Place moderated panel discussions with Dan Levitt, the BC Seniors Advocate, hosted by the Sunshine Coast Resource Centre

This Aging in Place series is a great opportunity for seniors and the wider community to come and learn about what services are available and how you can access them.

The Pender Harbour Health Centre will be there to share our unique perspective on the transportation barriers that exist for our patients, given our location in a transportation desert. Alongside Dan Levitt, the PHHC will also be joined by representatives from Vancouver Coastal Health, the Sunshine Coast Resource Centre and Cover The Coast: Alliance for Affordable Housing.

These events will be held on:

• Tuesday June 9th, 2pm – 4pm @ Harmony Hall, Gibsons.
• Wednesday June 10th, 2pm – 4pm @ Sechelt Seniors Activity Centre.

The Pender Harbour Health Centre would like to thank the Rotary Club of Pender Harbour for supporting the Health Centre with their current Nexus 50/50 draw.

The proceeds of this 50/50 will go towards supporting the PHHC to purchase a new Automated External Defibrillator (AED). This is a vital piece of equipment that can help save lives.

The Pender Harbour Better at Home Program is excited to announce the launch of new Better at Home program called Woodland Tales and Tunes. This is an opportunity for seniors in our community to come together, share music and stories in nature.

This week the Pender Harbour Health Centre welcomed representatives from the Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary, who stopped by to present us with $20,000 we received from their 2026 – 2027 granting program. The SCHA grants aim to Enhance Healthcare of the Sunshine Coast.

The PHHC will be using $10,000 of this funding to procure new medical equipment for our physicians and the Primary Care Wing, including the latest in virtual care technology.

We will be using the remaining $10,000 to continue offering our Food Security program to seniors in our community who have been receiving food security support for the last year through funding from another partner.

As a non-profit organization, the Pender Harbour Health Centre relies on the generosity and support of our partners and donors to be able to deliver programming and support to our community. This continued ongoing support from the SCHA is greatly appreciated and allows the PHHC to focus on our mission to provide quality, caring, and responsive health services for the Pender Harbour community.

The PHHC Board of Directors, staff and patients, would like to thank the Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary staff, volunteers, granting committee members and customers for this wonderful support of local healthcare. The support that the SCHA provides across the whole Coast is remarkable and inspirational.

The Pender Harbour Health Centre would like to make the community aware that Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) and their Public Health Team will be offering Spring COVID vaccines at the PHHC. The dates for these upcoming clinics are listed on the attached poster.

Please note, these appointments need to be booked through VCH at getvaccinated.gov.bc.ca or by calling 1 833 838 2323. PHHC MOA’s will not be able to schedule you an appointment.

We would like to thank VCH and their Public Health Nurse for providing local access to these vaccines here at the PHHC.
