Han Knakst Tsitxw Society (Helping Hands Transition House)

Han Knakst Tsitxw Society (Helping Hands Transition House) History
Han Knakst Tsitxw Society was developed in response to the needs of the Nlaka’pamux Nation and surrounding communities.

Work began in 1988 to obtain the finances, property and human resources necessary to create a safe, temporary home for women and children in abusive situations. The transition house and related services are now provided through Han Knakst Tsitxw Society, a nominated Board of Directors and staff. The Board of Directors and staff work cooperatively to ensure that the purposes of the Society are met to the greatest extent possible

The Transition House is on alert and still open for women and children needing a safe place. We have other transition houses in select surrounding communities that we can transport people to in case the house becomes evacuated as well. Please come to the house or call/text 778-254-0217 to inquire.
