Come join us in exploring “Tangled Roots.” Where we’ll emphasize compositions where lines or forms intertwine, creating friction and complexity. Artists are encouraged to tangle brushstrokes, patterns, figures or even typographic elements to create a busy non-realistic piece that reflects the art of nature’s inner workings. This creates a window for open interpretation from the viewer. Letting them consciously define their own image.

In some cases, tangling is its literal definition (knotted hair, braided rope, interwoven cords) and sometimes it’s structural (overlapping textures, intersecting silhouettes, tangled perspective,) but either way it emphasizes themes like confusion, desire, fate, memory or the ways ideas and visual input can overlap and refuse to resolve. Dig into your interpretation of the complexity of daily life and the correspondence of our environment with compositions in mind.

Are you cleaning out your studio or craft room this summer? MAC is starting to take donations for our 2nd hand art supply sale. This sale helps us fund our student bursaries for youth wanting to further their education in the arts.

Supplies can be dropped off at the MAC Village Gallery which is open Mon-Sat 10am-4pm

Sale will be on September 26 & 27 at the Autumn Artisan Market! so be sure to drop by and support the arts while getting some great deals on art supplies!

Every year since 2020 the Monashee Arts Council has worked with our artists to host monthly themed shows as well as a few invitational shows which have always been a great hit so much so that we want to work with our artists and find those who would like to show their work at the Village Gallery.

So please send us your proposals if you would like to have you or your groups work shown Applications must be submitted no later than September 30th for consideration by our Gallery Team.

Have you been in yet to check out the Limited Palette show at the Village Gallery? isn't it amazing what only a few colours can create? many of these paintings used no more than 3 distinct colours plus white and sometimes black
