CAEC After Retirement: I am 65 years old and recently retired after 45 years with the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). I left high school in Grade 11 in 1978 and found myself at a Canadian Forces recruiting station in Vancouver, which only required a basic Grade 10 education. As I progressed in rank, I realized that not having my high school diploma restricted my advancement. I looked into the GED program, but found it difficult with my career schedule, and eventually, it was too late for my career…

"After being out of school for 40 years, in the Fall of 2024 I decided it was time to upgrade my education. Here is my story. My journey started on September 19th when I meet with the Executive Director at BSLN to discuss the program and plans for moving forward. On September 23rd, I meet with my instructor, where I completed assessments to determine where I would start in the program. I remember my first day of school, I was nervous and excited at the same time..."
