George Catholic Women's League are part of the larger community of The Catholic Women's League, a national sister-hood that began in 1920 to promote awareness and respond to political and social issues that affect all Canadians. We welcome and offer comfort to the vulnerable, those in need and the marginalized. We have an active role in the creation of resolutions that are presented to government
annually on issues that impact families and communities at home and abroad. We are part of and join with the World Union of Catholic Women's organizations representing Catholic Women and the Church around the globe. With over 70,000+ members in Canada, The Catholic Women's League is recognized by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops as a lay association of women and is affiliated with the world union of Catholic women's organizations. George Parish, are actively involved in supporting and enriching prayer in our lives. We do this by organizing events such as retreats for Advent and Lent and by participating in parish liturgical celebrations such as Stations of the Cross. We raise money to support local charities. Each year, our Candy Cane Christmas Bazaar and spring garage sale raise the funds needed to support these local groups. We provide service to our parish by offering funeral luncheons and tea service for parish events. But most of all, we offer community through events such as Advent and Lentent retreats, Welcome Back Brunch, Christmas Social, Spring Tea, Year-End Pot-luck and many more varied events. There are many ways to become involved, and new members are always welcome.
