🇨🇦 OCTOBER 28 — NATIONAL INTERNMENT COMMEMORATION DAY
Learn. Remember. Honour.
During the First World War, thousands of people in Canada, including Ukrainian immigrants, were designated as “enemy aliens.” Many were forcibly interned in camps, deprived of their freedoms, and subjected to discrimination.
This painful chapter of Canadian history reminds us of the importance of protecting human rights, dignity, and justice.
🇨🇦 The Ukrainian Canadian Congress — London Branch invites the community to a special commemorative event:
“Remembering Ukrainian Canadian Internment”
🎙️ Our guest speaker, acclaimed Canadian author Marsha Forchuk Skrypuch, will share her family's personal story connected to this tragedy and read excerpts from her books exploring the history and legacy of internment.
📅 Date: Wednesday, October 28, 2026
🕡 Time: 6:30 p.m.
📍 Location: London Ukrainian Centre, Odesa Hall
247 Adelaide St South, London, Ontario
✅ Free admission. Everyone is welcome!
☕ Coffee, tea, and sweets will be served.
📚 Books on the history of internment will be available for cash purchase and author signing.
We invite all members of our community, friends, and neighbours to join us in honouring those who suffered injustice and preserving this important chapter of Ukrainian Canadian and Canadian history.
Remembering our past helps us build a more just and inclusive future.
